<kth> hi - does anyone know how to add rt2800usb module in kernel configuration for linux-sunxi-3.4 kernel ? normally i would select ralink support within device drivers->network device support->ralink driver support->ralink rt27xx/rt28xx/rt30xx (USB) support - but in this case there is no "ralink driver support" within wireless lan but the directory drivers/net/wireless/rt2x00 does exist - any idea?
<dragonn> BigWhoop, no, I use my tablet charger - it gives my 5V 2A (the lable says)
<kth> okay thanks for attention - i found the solution - within networking support -> wireless -> mac80211 wasn't enabled - so when enabled - ralink is possible ;)

<Bushmills> cubiestore on shopify is lowest cost mail ordering i found as far ($49+$7 postage) for europe - ideas where to get it delivered cheaper?
<dragonn> ok, power connect, the cubie takes 0.3A without any USB connect
<dragonn> let go connect the USB disk
<dragonn> When it is under heav load it takes 0.5A wow

<dragonn> werid :/, 0.8A and the disk won't run
<xenoxaos> disk spin up can take more current then regular under load current
<dragonn> yes, but the power source was 2,5A and the cubie with the disk takes 0.8A so the power source have enaugh power....
<simosx> dragonn, I managed to get a 2.5" SATA to work on the Cubieboard with 1A (coming from a USB cable / OTG port).
<dragonn> Hmm I will try power the disk up directly from the power source and show how much power it will take
<simosx> How do you feed your own Cubieboard?

<dragonn> hmm it sems like the disk need some volts more at start, it spin up at 6V from my power source (it isn't stable under load). Will be 6V dangeras for cubie?

<jelly-home> as far as I remember, the power chip _should_ be able to live with it, but hey, it's your cubie
<dragonn> well no succes, I think the usb ports isn't directly connect to the power source and this will made the problem :/ that the port can not give 0.8A to the HDD at spin up, well I will try to made a adapter with allows to power the usb hdd from the sata power
<dragonn> Yes, I have connect my mp3 player to my cubie, shutdown the system and then it stops charging :/
<simosx> I am trying to install GNU/Linux to the NAND of the Cubieboard, per http://linux-sunxi.org/Cubieboard/Installing_on_NAND
<simosx> It is not clear to me what the differences are compared to a typical GNU/Linux installation.
<BigWhoop> of course the usb power is not connected to the psu directly.
<BigWhoop> look at usb data sheets :D
<simosx> 1. Is there a LiveSuit image with Ubuntu/Linaro available? How to convert an existing image (for dd to the uSD) into a LiveSuit image?
<dragonn> I this will made the problem because the HDD needs 0.8A to spin up, and cubie usb will be limated to 0.5A :/. How much power gives the sata connector? 1A?
<jelly-home> dragonn: I think it's supposed to give up to 1A yes
rellla has quit [Quit: Nettalk6 - www.ntalk.de]
<dragonn> Ok, this should be enaugh, going to made a adapter for it
<jelly-home> be careful not to connect +5 from USB and +5 from sata power, I guess?
<BigWhoop> simosx you can use your tutorial for existing images as well
<BigWhoop> you mean sata power connector?
<BigWhoop> isnts limited imho
<BigWhoop> the limit is the conducting path :D
<dragonn> jelly-home, hmm first I will made a version without connect the power lines

<joph> dragonn, cause the cubieboard has no eeprom with a mac inside
<joph> you can set on your own a fixed mac address http://linux-sunxi.org/EMAC
<joph> *you can set your own one according to this wiki
<shineworld> in past someone tried to recover CPU ID and apply that how part of MAC construction
<shineworld> with 3.0 /proc/cpuinfo reply yet 0000000000000 on CPU ID
<shineworld> I don't know how is for 3.4
<joph> why not getting a mac adress from an old NIC?
<shineworld> by law you should buy MAC address ... I've purchased a block of 1000 but if you have some old board / router .....
<shineworld> or if your use is personal you can also use some standard prefix like that of vmware
<shineworld> or leave your cubieboard to generate one random every time start

<shineworld> when board is off and you keep pressed FEL button and attach the USB-OTG on computer (only that, and not power cable) the cubieboard START and enter in a special CPU mode called FEL MODE
<shineworld> and is ready to connect with a software called LiveSuit running on PC and used to send a file with extension .img directly in NAND
