<cfy7> the "3" in usb3 stands for 3 extra pins, so youre fine.
<apc> I'm hoping it's just a spare ground
<apc> I could look it up
<apc> but that's not going to change anything... it'll either work or it won't
<cfy7> Quick, sell it on ebay as "New, Open Box"
<apc> it's for the front panel on the secondary rig, so almost never used

<FreshFund> lol
<Mercosity> Oh Sh!T!!
<Bouowmx> Latest graphics cards stopped using analog anyway
<Bouowmx> Monitors should at least come with 1 of each of DisplayPort, DVI, and HDMI :\
<Mercosity> Screws some of my old monitors though.
<Mercosity> especially for playing old games.
<Mercosity> 16bit
<FreshFund> backwards compatibility is awesome, but yea 1 of each would be good
<FreshFund> including vga aha
<Mercosity> 16bit Doom or Star Elite
<Bouowmx> EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB SC coming through mail and it just occured to me to get an adapter for a second DVI port
<Mercosity> hdmi to dvi?
<Mercosity> or vice versa.
<Mercosity> or is it versa vice.
<Mercosity> mmm

<Mercosity> R9 390!!
<Mercosity> ffffungersss!!
<Bouowmx> 275-W TDP :o
<Mercosity> TDP?
<Bouowmx> Approximate heat output of processor under full and typical workload
<Mercosity> oh
<Bouowmx> It also represents power consumption because I presume all electricity used becomes heat
<Mercosity> wots typical workload though. With me it's 100%.
<Mercosity> heat and grc
<Bouowmx> I think BOINC projects are typical; not typical is FurMark power virus
<Mercosity> Don't like FurMark?
<Bouowmx> Like Prime95 for GPUs, don't hate it
<Mercosity> ok
<Bouowmx> Although FurMark stability does not equal BOINC project validity
<Bouowmx> Nvidia GeForce GT 710 FurMark stable at 1350 MHz
<Bouowmx> But SETI@home valid at 1200 MHz

<Peppernrino> some guy was like "here's some numbers from the NPR. they say only 70% of people have a mobile, and 70% have a computer so... derp."
<Peppernrino> and i'm all "how much crossover? by those numbers, conceivably, everyone could be connected, they just aren't using the number sof ryour benefit
<Peppernrino> "
<Peppernrino> shitty at reading between the lines
<Peppernrino> like literally 30% of the country could have both, and 70% could have either, at the worst estimate.
<Peppernrino> then i brought up why internet.org was viable
<Peppernrino> cuz africa and india have tons of mobiles
<Peppernrino> then he's like but only 70% of people could vote
<Peppernrino> i'm like only 40% of america votes now. what's your point?
<apc> direct democracy would require strict education requirements for voters
<apc> hell, representative democracy should require strict education requirements for voters
<Peppernrino> nope
<Peppernrino> formal education is bullshit
<apc> doesn't need to be formal
GRCB0T has quit [Disconnected by services]
<apc> but you should have to pass some sort of test
<Peppernrino> regulated education... what, so they can teach the kids that america is great?
<Peppernrino> no
<Peppernrino> then uneducated people wouldn't get a vote
<apc> blithering mindless morons who can't stop breeding should not have the same vote weight as scientists and engineers
<Peppernrino> they're probably uneducated due to...
<Peppernrino> says you
<Peppernrino> until they kill you
<Peppernrino> and take over
<Peppernrino> gotta please everybody man.
<apc> or just limit their existence in the first place through artificial population control
<apc> which is going to be required, anyway

<Peppernrino> yeah. eugenics.

<Peppernrino> no
<apc> a planet barely able to support 7 billion can not support 14
<Peppernrino> we have to be careful about we ask for now.
<Peppernrino> anyything can happen with the right amount of support.
<Peppernrino> i could make a GREAT argument that no one should have privacy.
<Peppernrino> but we should.
<apc> maybe, but not before the food, water, and air runs out
<Peppernrino> so...
<Peppernrino> how much food does the US throw away each year, apc?
<Peppernrino> come on man. you're thinking like we're idiots.
<apc> depends on what you consider "thrown away"
<Peppernrino> we could support MANY more people.
<apc> you mean ends up in a landful
<Peppernrino> at least 30% is wasted.
<apc> I think it's something like a third
<Peppernrino> yeah
<Peppernrino> good food.
<apc> sometimes
<Peppernrino> youhave people starving to death in a "first world" country
<Peppernrino> quit the hubris bro
<apc> a lot of it is just shit that went bad during transport
<Peppernrino> what are you protecting right now?
<apc> beat to hell
<Peppernrino> lol
<Peppernrino> yeah. NOBODY would want beat up fruit. /s
<apc> and going local isn't the answer, as local is way more energy inefficient
<Peppernrino> fucking america

<ColdFish> not saying africans shouldnt be allowed to raise a family, but raising a 16 kid family just to get enough money to live, is sick.

<Bouowmx> Wallet up time > 1 day: opening Neural Network will cause hang
<Bouowmx> ???
<customminer> Yep
<jamezz> hangs for me too , just doing anything opening the NN even...
<jamezz> always has
<customminer> Can you create a github issue for it? I'll post a comment tomorrow morning.
<Mercosity> that means it's stuck processing something. What do you have running in the background and what versions of windows?
<Bouowmx> NN can open fine if wallet up-time < 1 day
<Peppernrino> upvotes
<[-SaRaFiNa-]> Linked by Peppernrino - Gridcoin Research v3.5.7.9 - Mandatory Testnet Upgrade — Steemit
<jamezz> my 9590 / 32gb and win10 just boinc and the wallet... and it doesnt have any uptime value related
<jamezz> its just qt4 i thought
<Bouowmx> So the NN issue happens randomly to you?
<jamezz> more native on linux
<jamezz> it happens always , just figured its how it acts
* jamezz shrugs
<Bouowmx> My issue title was going to be "With wallet up-time of approximate 1 day or more, wallet will hang after opening Neural Network"
Mikasa has joined #gridcoin
<jamezz> and for 2-3 builds now , the wallet randomly goes 480x640 on a screen doing 1900x1200 or something
<jamezz> its funny
<jamezz> just randomly 2-3 times a day , i figure its the NN doing something and lagged the client GUI
<jamezz> oh well it still collects funds
<Mercosity> I run my wallet all the time, I'm win 7 server 2008 r2 mine runs with BOINC in the background as well. I have my preferences in BM set to stall BM when I move my mouse.
<Bouowmx> When main thread hangs GUI thread: isn't that a basic thing to avoid :o
<Bouowmx> Idk: I never did GUIs with C/C++
<jamezz> its gt4 on windows i do not expect much... now if it does that on linux
<Mercosity> So when I go into NN it's fine I fiddle with NN a lot.
<jamezz> then id bitch
<jamezz> qt4*
<jamezz> make ya a video of the 2 issues and post but i dont find it to be anything too big.... that box sits crunching i dont use it with much human interaction
<Mercosity> How much RAM you guys have?
<jamezz> i have 32gb on main , 4gb on this
<Bouowmx> 2x8 + 4 = 20 GB
<Mercosity> RAM isn't it then.
<Chick3nman> 64gb on my machine
<Mercosity> Must be something you're running in the background whilst the client is running.
<Chick3nman> the wallet is changing size?
<Chick3nman> like
<jamezz> sometimes my machine may have universe@home or atlas or something up to 8 cores running VM's and then GPU core running a project
<Chick3nman> resolution?
<jamezz> it does , it blows up like the old arcade game Dig Dug
<jamezz> when he dies and his face goes full screen
<jamezz> lol
<Chick3nman> Your graphics driver may be crashing and automatically recovering.
<Chick3nman> its most likely that
<Chick3nman> ive had it happen before
<jamezz> na id get a computational error on the gpu project
<Chick3nman> it recovers for a sec and then windows applies its settings
<Chick3nman> not always
<jamezz> and the 2nd or 3rd windows are not effected
<Chick3nman> are they sized full screen or windowed?
<Bouowmx> Windows TDR recovery is noticable
<Chick3nman> if they are windowed then im not sure
<jamezz> my boinc client stays normal on both full and i have it sized to normal default height
<Chick3nman> hmm
<Mercosity> I've only had one serious crash since I started on my client machine and that was BSOD yesterday am. That was a WU that made it freak out.
<Chick3nman> i would put money on a graphics related crash
<jamezz> like i said , no comp error and shits working so i didnt think much of it
<[-SaRaFiNa-]> Linked by Peppernrino - Gridcoin Research v3.5.7.9 - Mandatory Testnet Upgrade — Steemit
<jamezz> um going to go mandatory upgrade my stash
<Bouowmx> I'll make a GitHub issue when this NN problem happens and I can get a memory dump
<jamezz> but these 2 shops , and inventory list im having hard time trying to pick how to spoil myself today
<Mercosity> Chick3nman I'm in agreement with you there as the only thing I don't use at the mo is a GPU!
<Chick3nman> whenever my drivers crash, i get stuck at default resolution for a bit and it crashes samsung magician since it cant run properly on a machine lower than 1200x700
<Bouowmx> If devs ever wants to sift through a > 500-MB dump :o
<jamezz> Peppernrino , so this latest BILD... hit the menu and exit/log out its a green door kinda icon and a person and arrow pointing threw the door... bottom choice for text
<jamezz> anyways when you relogin
<Peppernrino> you KEEP running samsung magician?
<jamezz> choose english at login

<Peppernrino> i suppose it would be ok for copying this whole ssd to the new one, but i'm pretty sure this isntall is hacked anyway
<Peppernrino> how much a fresh install help if i'm being targeted?
<Peppernrino> not much, i'd imagine.
<Mercosity> What wallet update you all running @ this moment?
<Peppernrino> and jamezz i am watching what you're saying while i bitch
