its should be fine to use beta if you choose to do so, it has the same code as stable + some experimental stuff. I run beta as my daily driver.

I think it would be cool if riot could convert links IPFS URIs to a link at a public gateway, that way they would work for people without companion, and if someone has companion that would be redirected to local node anyway.
