<carsonfarmer[m]> Yes, good luck... there aren't a ton of tutorials on this stuff specifically that I know of...
<carsonfarmer[m]> drag n' drop using companion or desktop app, then copy the hash, and then `ipfs name publish --key=mykey QmFolderHash`
<carsonfarmer[m]> maybe https://docs.ipfs.io/guides/concepts/mfs/ is your best bet?

<stoccafisso[m]> Also, I try to use wget to grab copies of websites before the sensorship corporate gestapo deletes them. This gives filefolders named e.g "www.somewebsite.com". How do I add this to mfs in order to have them behave like a website when viewed in /ipfs/ or /ipns/?
<carsonfarmer[m]> feel free to join our slack channel to keep tabs on that stuff?

<ilyaigpetrov> stoccafisso[m]: sorry, I'm not the best at ipfs and even don't get your questions in full but as nobody answers you then maybe I can help
<ilyaigpetrov> stoccafisso[m]: ipfs is implemented in go, go works on several platforms (linux, windows, mac, etc.)
<ilyaigpetrov> so you get ipfs working on windows too. Maybe some features are not present there, e.g. I haven't tried mounting ipfs to filesystem, but ipfs launches a http server on localhost (local machine) which works as an API to the ipfs daemon
D_ has quit [Client Quit]
<ilyaigpetrov> launching http server on local machine is possible on many platforms and doesn't require much so you may talk to ipfs even from browsers
<ilyaigpetrov> I guess this is how IPFS companion browser extension works

<stoccafisso[m]> ilyaigpetrov: thank for helping. Yes, it is MFS and ipns that is the most importan part of what I wonder about regarding windows. I am "that guy" who try to get people to start using other stuff than Facebook and Twitter, and try to get them over to P2P systems. Its' difficult, specially with windows users. If it does not work flawlessly at first try, then they are gone, almost never considering the big picture and
<stoccafisso[m]> putting in some effort helping themselves
<ilyaigpetrov> stoccafisso[m]: what alternative to facebook you have to offer? I haven't head about ipfs-based social network yet.
<stoccafisso[m]> They probably want to remain slaves of the sensorship corporate gestapo :-)
<ilyaigpetrov> stoccafisso[m]: the closes thing to social ipfs-based features I've head is textile photos and their cafes but their are not mature
<ilyaigpetrov> stoccafisso[m]: you may have better luck promoting telegram messenger
<stoccafisso[m]> for social network I recommend https://github.com/ssbc/patchwork
<stoccafisso[m]> It is not on ipfs, but part of the move away from corporate gestapo. I now also focus on ipfs, for using it to backup websites and stuff that is now massivly deleted and sensored by the same corporate gestapo establishment
<ilyaigpetrov> stoccafisso[m]: in what country do you fight censorship?
thomasan_ has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<ilyaigpetrov> I believe I have some delay with the matrix bridge here
<stoccafisso[m]> Norway, but we ofcourse depend on information published internationally, so my focus is global. I see the need to fight the bookburners
<ilyaigpetrov> stoccafisso[m]: what kind of information do you protect from being censored?
<stoccafisso[m]> They are destroying history every day. If you are not a globalist, then you are a nazi, a fascist, a rasist and every other bad word in the vocabulary, and you have no right to communicate or distribute your point of view, you are sensored, deplatformed, have your social network accounts closed and you youtube videos deleted. I think ipfs can help fighting back.
<ilyaigpetrov> stoccafisso[m]: take a look at d.tube for youtube alternative but I'm not happy with some aspects of it
<ilyaigpetrov> stoccafisso[m]: I'm still interested what kind of ideas do you protect but you are free to keep it private
<stoccafisso[m]> d.tube is not "open source"...I dont like it
<sethfork[m]> Relevant uses curation markets and personal page rank to combat the crisis of trust in social media and operate a social network that doesn’t rely on advertising and selling your data
<stoccafisso[m]> I rather not get into a political debate in here. But I have the opinion that national democracy shall rule above the globalist worldgovernment agenda. The globalist agenda is destroying national democracy. I am not happy about that. I am not a supporter of the UN's and World Economic Forums vision of the global technocratic dictatorship, thats what it is. Anyone opposing this is deemed a nazist, a fascist, a rasist
<stoccafisso[m]> and so on, and we get sensored and deplattformed and worse than that. Again, I only write this as you asked me, I would stay away from discussing politics here.

<stoccafisso[m]> And I am not a Trump/MAGA supporter, but I support their right to express their opinion. And I dont support the USA/NATO mainstream media brainwashing of the western population, and I contribut to expose their lies about Libya/Syria/Venezuela etc, information that is getting sensored and deleted by corporate gestapo. Just some examples

Lochnair has joined #ipfs
<sethfork[m]> Of course, I’m not commenting on that
<ilyaigpetrov> stoccafisso[m]: no, he doesn't say it's offtopic, he says he is a developer of relevenat "socail netowrk"
<ilyaigpetrov> stoccafisso[m]: for advocating IPFS it's important to explain why censoring your ideas is not acceptable
<sethfork[m]> I’m doing some research into OrbitDB and CRDTs for data + permissioning. Really excited about this stuff
<stoccafisso[m]> ilyaigpetrov: yes, thats part of my everyday strugle, to try to help people understand why sensorship is not acceptable, and what we can do to fight back
<stoccafisso[m]> sethfork: I have had a look at Orbit, looks interesting, but maybe not yet mature. I think I will have a hard time convincing fb-users to migrate to Orbit at this stage
<sethfork[m]> stoccafisso: I’m not too interested in the Orbit platform, which I don’t believe is maintained anymore, but OrbitDB is a merkle-crdt system on top of IPFS which is super cool
<stoccafisso[m]> OK, I dont know about OrbitDB. Where can I read about that?
<sethfork[m]> It’s a little difficult to find good materials on it, but they released a paper on Merkle CRDTs, which should be a good place to start. Otherwise, their github has a lot of context specific reading materials / instructions, but that it’s more in line with typical project readmes
<stoccafisso[m]> OK, I am not a developer, so I better focus on already working systems.
