<bmbeach> Wizzup I have had sound working on snow for about a year
<bmbeach> now, consisting of bits and pieces in userland and in the
<bmbeach> kernel that I can use to overide alsa. Normally I
<bmbeach> initialize the system, load alsa as a module, overide
<bmbeach> alsa's settings and I'm done. I don't touch anything
<bmbeach> again. Listening to a Bach Cantata on snow is a real
<bmbeach> pleasure, and movies are fine except for the the lack of
<bmbeach> video acceleration, so for my screen of 1490x1080 I can
<bmbeach> watch a movie of say 3/4 of the screen but not full
<bmbeach> screen. Now one of the major things lacking with peach-pi
<bmbeach> ( from your descriptions of the problems ) and snow is a
<bmbeach> proper frequency scaling algoritm. I have done so on snow
<bmbeach> and since the sound architecure are fundamentally the
<bmbeach> same on both machines it should be straight forward to
<bmbeach> get it running on peach-pi especially since most of alsa
<bmbeach> seems to be running already. This I want to do do in 2
<bmbeach> stages. (or 2 patchs)
<bmbeach> 1. Program the EPLL with a sane stable value at boot time
<bmbeach> rather the current unstable boot value. This is the
<bmbeach> critical stage since I fully expect a dramatic change at
<bmbeach> this point in the performance of sound on your machine.
<bmbeach> There will be no more loss of lock problems and sound
<bmbeach> will be clear. You will be able immediately use alsa to
<bmbeach> listen to music and watch movies.
<bmbeach> 2. Given that the above happens, proceed to finished the
<bmbeach> frequency scaling algorithm.
<bmbeach> and for now that is all.
