<Myy> мяу
<ayaka> Russian this time?
<Myy> Yup
<Myy> This week I tried to focus on enabling Bluetooth support for Tinkerboarders, but something is still missing for some reasons. Next week, I might be able to get my hands on a Tinkerboard to test a few things directly.
<ayaka> I see, thanks
<ayaka> btw, I am not the cat party but dog party
<Myy> (∪^ω^)わんわんお!

<BenG83_> Myy firmware loader did not work?

<Myy> BenG83_, It seems that it did not work but I don't know why
<Myy> And since I don't own any Tinkerboard, I can't really check directly
<Myy> The threads in question are :
<Myy> https://forum.armbian.com/index.php?/topic/3327-asus-tinkerboard/&page=13
<Myy> It seems that rfkill unblock all is required ...
<BenG83_> <- Xalius
<Myy> Ah !
<Myy> Hello Xalius :3
<BenG83_> yeah there is a GPIO tied to BT_RESET
<BenG83_> usually
<BenG83_> and the uart only works if that is lifted
<BenG83_> usually via rfkill unblock...
<Myy> That's good to know :)
paulk-gagarine has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<BenG83_> I have a Tinkerboard somewhere
<Myy> I'll let Tony, issues reporters and tinkerboarders on the unofficial forum give it a try
<Myy> Oh !
<BenG83_> but I only used the BT on Pine64 and Pinebook
<Myy> I'll only have 3 MiQi on my sides, so that makes the whole BT test quite difficult
<Myy> As they do not possess such chips
<BenG83_> I think the wifi part is getting mainlined
<Myy> Yeah, definitely
<Myy> We could make it work with the staging driver
<BenG83_> original thread is here
<Myy> Just had to add the necessary definitions in the DTS and the firmware, and the WiFi part was unlocked
<BenG83_> nice
paulk-gagarine has joined #linux-rockchip
<Myy> However, Bluetooth is quite an unknown territory to me. So I'm quite lost with the whole combo :3
<BenG83_> yeah at first we tried to find a kernel drier
<BenG83_> but then found that there is only a firmware loader
<BenG83_> firmware comes from the Android images
paulk-gagarine has quit [Client Quit]
<BenG83_> and then that rtk_hciattach uploades the firmware, swithces baudrate and attaches the thing to the bluetooth stack
<Myy> The usual "software archeology" :)
<BenG83_> so the kernel needs that h5 BT protocol
<Myy> Does it need specific definitions in the DTS
<BenG83_> not that I know of
<BenG83_> the wifi side of the thing has dts optiosn for the kernel module
<BenG83_> like the efuse map
<BenG83_> and the wifi has some options in the module for BT coexistence
<Myy> Yeah, which caused a lot of confusion during my searches
<BenG83_> because I think they share the same radio in the chio
<BenG83_> *chip
<Myy> As there's a module named "RTKBTCOEXIST" which, in the end, seemed to be more useful for PCI Express chips and then SDIO ones
paulk-gagarine has joined #linux-rockchip
<Myy> I'll see if I get some feedback in the next hours :)
<BenG83_> is the Tinkerboard RTL8723bs not SDIO attached?
<Myy> It is !
<BenG83_> ok
<BenG83_> because I think there is also a USB version that works totally different
<Myy> However there's a hidden driver named rtkbtcoexist that is enabled if you activate support for the PCIe ones
<Myy> Which is completely unrelated to the SDIO ones, in the end, it seems
<Myy> But since the SDIO ones return the BTCoexist chip name, I thought that was needed
<BenG83_> suspend is a bit tricky
<BenG83_> I think atm we just rerun the complete firmware upload on resume
<Myy> Well, BT starting and working will be enough for the moment :3
<Myy> The next issue is the reboot issue, which wzyy2 kind of told me how to resolve
<Myy> Currently, when rebooting, the SD module is not powered again and the machine becomes stale, since it does not have any boot device anymore
<Myy> So if these two issues get resolved, I think the Tinkerboard should almost be 4.12 compliant
<Myy> The last part will be the VPU side.
<Myy> Is there any reason to suspsend the BT anyway ? Beside power issues ?
<BenG83_> not on the Pine64, but on the Pinebook it had to work :P
<Myy> Ah, battery saving ? :)
<BenG83_> yeah
<BenG83_> suspend now works most of the time
<Myy> Now I'm thinkg about it, trick question for RK3288 Mali drivers maintainers : Why does the Firefly Mail drivers for Framebuffer (fbdev) have the Vulkan calls symbols ? Were anyone able to use them ? I've looked at the Vulkan documentation however, no one seem to have tried to use Vulkan combined with fbdev.
