<amstan>
though, i now have a firefly-3399 next to me to compare
<amstan>
seems like my chromebook is too eager to start enumeration for some reason
<amstan>
maybe the phy gets muxed wrong
<amstan>
whereas the firefly does not cause my host to notice anything, until the point of modprobing a gadget driver

hello. I'm having trouble with kexec on rk3288 (asus c201). linux version 4.12.12. I have a kernel+initrd that is able to initialize the panel, but when I load the exact same kernel+initrd through kexec the backlight doesn't even start
<FrostyBytes>
kexec tools version 2.0.15

<topi`>
wow, I got more than 800MB/s aes128 speed (openssl speed -evp aes-128-ctr)
<topi`>
on the ROCK64 board with ubuntu xenial
<phh>
yup, arm64's aes instructions are crazy fast
<topi`>
this thing is a beast (small beast) for all kinds of NAS usage
<phh>
actually you can even parallelize it, it will be even faster :P
<phh>
(assuming ram bandwidth keeps up)
<topi`>
I can imagine a zfs snapshot taking up all cores...
<topi`>
phh: do you still have your AC100? :)
<phh>
I don't know :( I tried to show it some time ago, but I couldn't find it again
<phh>
but no I'm no longer use it
<phh>
my ac100 replacement is a c201
* Ke
working with C201 atm
<topi`>
yeah the AC100 is really old :) I still have mine, but the hinge is broken
<topi`>
I believe I bought it in 2010
<phh>
the 512mb ram really killed me :(
<topi`>
well, I could run emacs on it ;)
<topi`>
its battery had amazing amount of stamina even without properly working power mgmt, whereas the Atoms of that time just sucked amps like crazy
<phh>
and so light...
<phh>
dismantling it is enough, it's mostly empty
<phh>
s/enough/funny/
<Ke>
Asus Chromebook Flip C101 might be interesting, if you are getting something new
<Ke>
Samsung chromebook plus was a big disappointment in feel etc.
<phh>
+1 for the disappointment of chromebook plus
<Ke>
also I did not realize US keyboard actually even has fewer keys than finnish kb
<phh>
rk3399 on a 720p screen... poor gpu will run at 1000fps
<phh>
Ke: that's why I bought uk version ;)
<Ke>
hmm, wonder if you can get that somewhere
<phh>
well for the chromebook plus, I think it was late by only few weeks compared to us version
<Ke>
the problem is not "yet" it's still
<Ke>
the only reason I got mine now is that the availability is already shrinking
<phh>
oh so you already have a c101?
kaspter has quit [Quit: kaspter]
<topi`>
I'll be waiting for a chromebook with the RK3499 with Cortex-A75 cores :)
<beeble>
phh: doesn't have the chromebook plus a 2400x1600 display?
<topi`>
Huawei gets the newest ARM cores always quickest, but I think it only took about 1 year from the point where Huawei released Kirin 950 to the point when first RK3399 products were shipping
<topi`>
some boring tv boxes..
<Ke>
topi`: did you just make up rk3499?
<topi`>
yes I made it up ;)
<topi`>
but I think it's reasonable to expect that Rockchip will also license the new A75 core
<Ke>
perhaps
<topi`>
unless they want to concentate on the lower end of the market
<topi`>
which would be a shame, because obviously they're the best chip maker in China
<Ke>
well there will always be some cpu core after A75 and before (like A73), why specificly A75?
<topi`>
it's 50% more perf comparing against A73
<Ke>
the next one will also probably be
<topi`>
"48% more Octane performance" it says in the A75 slides

still trying to decide if i want to import one or not

<beeble>
yes

the good part is that the sd slot has cover, so it does not get ejected accidentally
<Ke>
I think the biggest regret for me is the US keyboard, which is not a fundamental problem...
<beeble>
i would prefer a iso enter instead of a ansi. but thats a small issue

some numbers may be different too
<phh>
Xe513c24-k01us
<Ke>
hmm you have UK keyboard with that product code?
<phh>
Erf sorry, i mixed up with c100...
<Ke>
So I guess it's plausible that there has never been non-US chromebook plus?
<Ke>
I have ever only seen the US variant
<phh>
I guess so yes, sorry
<Ke>
np, thanks
<Ke>
I guess there may be compatible laptoos though
<Ke>
all these typos, and here I even have the UK keyboard
