Hello! I have problem with sun5i kernel. Default stock u-boot (linux/u-boot.bin in nanda partiton) don't boot my kernel. Log: http://dumpz.org/758169/ :( earlyprintk also not working. I tried build kernel with a13_defconfig / sun5i_defconfig configs. And also in different formats: uImage, Image and bImage (created with arm-linux-gnueabi-objcopy -R .note.gnu.build-id -S -O binary vmlinux) format. But result is same, kernel not booting :( But, stock kernel boo
<Azq2>
// But, from sdcard this kernel booting normal!
<libv>
Azq2: so you have serial
<libv>
Azq2: are you using screen?
<libv>
Azq2: if so, you can enable logging and compare the u-boot output between both
<libv>
Azq2: i wonder about it not loading script.bin or reading a boot.scr
<Azq2>
I using cu. u-boot log: http://dumpz.org/758169/ (the same for stock kernel 100%) Kernel starting, but not working and not writing any data to uart1. Logging to uart1 enabled in kernel. boot.scr needed for u-boot on sdcard, but i tried booting kernel using stock u-boot in /dev/nanda
<Azq2>
script.bin loaded to 0x43000000 (script_base in linux/linux.ini) From sdcard this kernel botting normally.
<libv>
search for nand on our wiki, and you get a compeletely useless page.
<libv>
which i will remove now

is there a page with a10/13/etc devices listed? I've got a handful of tablets coming and wonder where I should post pics when I find serial consoles or other peripherals
<Turl>
bsdfox: look at the devices part on the wiki front page
<Turl>
Azq2: are you using the unmodified nand bootloaders and uboot from allwinner, and trying to boot a linux-sunxi kernel?
<Turl>
the allwinner unmodified uboot does not pass the memory size correctly; you may be hitting that
<Turl>
(well, kind of the opposite patch, to reintroduce the hack to detect memory size)
<mnemoc>
we have a fix for u-boot in lichee-dev....
<mnemoc>
making allwinner's u-boot pass the memory info
<Azq2>
Turl: i'm testing this patch. But don't work ((
<Azq2>
mnemoc: it works with sun5i?
<mnemoc>
do the same change in the corresponding lichee release
<mnemoc>
and replace that nand u-boot with a fixed version

hmm I just built a recent kernel (last time I updated was may) and now I'm not getting a uImage (only Image and zImage)
<mnemoc>
make uImage ?
<bsdfox>
yeah make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=arm-linux-gnueabihf- -j3 uImage modules
<mnemoc>
have mkimage?
<bsdfox>
perhaps not. my cross compiler I was using got screwed up so I'm building on my laptop. just recompiled and I see the error "mkimage command not found".. thanks
<mnemoc>
in ubuntu it comes from u-boot-tools, don't know about other distros... or bsds :p
<bsdfox>
yeah I got it

<bsdfox>
hmm I must be missing something else. booting the new kernel gives me "Error: unrecognized/unsupported machine ID (r1 = 0x00000da7)
<tomboy64>
i have troubles connecting usb drives to my cubietruck.
<mnemoc>
bsdfox: bad u-boot
<tomboy64>
i do have a drive connected via sata (and it shows up via lsusb)
<tomboy64>
the other device also shows up via lsusb, but there is no sg-device being created. i only get "ehci_irq: port change detect" (3x) followed by "usb 2-1: new high-speed USB device number 3 using sw-ehci"
<tomboy64>
i do have usb-storage available as a module, but it's not getting loaded, either
oliv3r has joined #linux-sunxi
<tomboy64>
and lsusb shows the new device as Bus 002 Device 003: ID 0475:059b Relisys/Teco Information System
<tomboy64>
keyboard and mouse are recognized without problems on the same usb port
<tomboy64>
it's only usb disks (i tried 3 so far) that prove troublesome
<tomboy64>
suggestions?
<bsdfox>
mnemoc, do I just need a newer uboot for the more modern kernels? I just booted uImage.bak (the kernel I built in may) and it still works. the only file I changed on the sd card was uImage
<mnemoc>
uImage.bak must be really old
<Turl>
bsdfox: you can temporarily fix it by setenv machid <whatever the new kernel expects>
n01 has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<bsdfox>
I'm using mele a2000 so I'll see if I can find a newer u-boot.bin
<bsdfox>
hmm. I downloaded the u-boot-sunxi-mele_a1000-20131210T104230-4e491b0 and copied u-boot.bin and sunxi-spl.bin to my sd card.. u-boot loads but I still get the same error. I did try setenv machid da7 but the error persists
<Turl>
bsdfox: da7 is the bad one, look at the table printed below
<Turl>
those are the ones that you need to use
<Turl>
oliv3r: \o
<bsdfox>
Turl, thanks. setenv machid 0x1008 for sun4i right?
<Turl>
bsdfox: I don't recall exactly, but certainly looks sensible
<bsdfox>
Turl, that's booting. thanks
<bsdfox>
I suppose I'm not sure what the machine id has to do with u-boot version though?
<Turl>
bsdfox: allwinner used some invented machine ids
<Turl>
so there was a period where uboot used the invented one too I think
<Turl>
mnemoc: ^ may be able to explain better
<bsdfox>
I see. so I suppose probably just add machid 0x1008 to uEnv.txt as a workaround?
