<megi> I have this patch for axp813, for setting input current limit for USB input
<megi> I don't remember if AC IN has different setting/register, but it will be pretty similar
<megi> If you set both input and charger current limits you can charge up to the limit

<anarsoul|2> jaganteki: hey
<anarsoul|2> jaganteki: re: [PATCH v3 3/5] sunxi: DT: A64: update device tree file for Allwinner A64 SoC
* vagrantc waves
<jaganteki> anarsoul|2, hi
<anarsoul|2> jaganteki: so do you want me to sync A64 dts-es to newer version?
<anarsoul|2> or this patch is OK?
<jaganteki> sync along with dst files as well with newer version, may be v4.20
<anarsoul|2> it's not out yet
<anarsoul|2> I've synced them to linux-next
<anarsoul|2> IIRC 2018-10-17
<jaganteki> Since I would take next MW, if v4.20 in sync it otherwise latest
<ElBarto> anarsoul|2: is it up to date with sunxi/sunxi-dt64-for-4.20 ?
RichardG867 has quit [Ping timeout: 264 seconds]
<anarsoul|2> it should be
<ElBarto> not that I don't really care what dts u-boot provide
<ElBarto> I came to the conclusion that you cannot use u-boot dtb if you want to be up to date
RichardG867 has joined #linux-sunxi
RichardG867 has joined #linux-sunxi
RichardG867 has quit [Changing host]
<anarsoul|2> yeah, it's still in the works
<ElBarto> for FreeBSD we now provide one based on the latest linux release
<anarsoul|2> cool
<ElBarto> mostly because of slow update in u-boot and some SoC using different dts between u-boot and linux (Marvell)
<anarsoul|2> ElBarto: once it's complete you can use u-boot version
<anarsoul|2> but it's far from completion :)
<ElBarto> anarsoul|2: it's easier for us (me) to provide the dtb, as we provide overlays too, I'm sure that it works
<ElBarto> I can just say to people : "If you don't do what I say expect problems" :)
<anarsoul|2> yeah
<ElBarto> the dtb situation is problematic for !linux mainline
<anarsoul|2> jaganteki: so is it OK to go with linux-next?
RichardG867 has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
RichardG867 has joined #linux-sunxi
<jaganteki> I do usually..but it's fine to take stable version with dts files in single sync patch
<anarsoul|2> *sigh* so you want me to wait for 4.20-rc1?

<sqozz> hey guys. Currently trying to get spdif running on my cubietruck (A20) with mainline (4.18.3). Unfortunately I fail to figure out why 'aplay -l' does only show sun4i-codec but no trace about SPDIF like indicated in the device-tree (simple-audio-card,name = "On-board SPDIF";). CONFIG_SND_SUN4I_SPDIF=y already is in my kernel. Am I missing something?

<sqozz> anarsoul|2: http://paste.opensuse.org/view/raw/71259262 - I see no obvious indictor of an error except maybe the warning about debugfs which after some research seems to be "harmless" and not causing my problems
clemens3 has joined #linux-sunxi
<anarsoul|2> sqozz: check that all the components of simple-audio-card are present
<sqozz> anarsoul|2: how can I do that and what exact components are you referencing to?
<KotCzarny> modprobe sun4i-spdif.ko ?
<KotCzarny> and check if it's added in dt too
<KotCzarny> allwinner,sun4i-a10-spdif or similar
<sqozz> is sun4i-spdif required to be loaded as module? As mentioned above I have it built-in into my current kernel
<KotCzarny> it could help to see if system autoloads it
<KotCzarny> which could indicate missing dt entry
mavkhimenia has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<sqozz> KotCzarny: well I just found /proc/device-tree/soc@1c00000/spdif@1c21000 is available on my system. Does this prove anything?
<sqozz> in general, there is a lot inside of /proc/device-tree regarding sound and the simple-audio-card
<KotCzarny> maybe you can see what armbian folks are doing regarding a20/spdif
<KotCzarny> seems they provide dt overlay for it
Gerwin_J has joined #linux-sunxi
<sqozz> hm… This is pretty mutch what I already have in my device-tree (which comes from upstream)

<Perlovka> Where it is possible to get recent thermal support for H3? I've tried to apply this patchset against 4.18.15 https://github.com/embed-3d/linux/compare/embed-3d/sunxi-ths-v3 and now device is halted imediately after initializing thermal, complaining that temp is above critical (216C)
<KotCzarny> add some if() to ignore zero readouts
<KotCzarny> it happens during first few seconds after initialization
<Perlovka> well, i'm not so good in C )
<anarsoul|2> Is anyone working on proper suspend support for allwinner socs? I'm interested in A64

<smaeul> anarsoul|2: yes, I have suspend working on pine64 and some orangepi boards (A64 and H5) https://github.com/crust-firmware
<anarsoul|2> smaeul: nice!
<anarsoul|2> smaeul: any plans to upstream it?
<smaeul> anarsoul|2: yes, I've been working with apritzel on ATF
<smaeul> we're trying to figure out how to be compatible with everything (which is a bit complicated)
<anarsoul|2> smaeul: cool
<anarsoul|2> smaeul: thanks for working on it!
nuuuciano has joined #linux-sunxi
<smaeul> I believe the current idea is to have Linux own the PMIC/RSB bus while it is running, and ARISC own it when the ARM cores are off
<smaeul> r_i2c is a bit more complicated
<anarsoul|2> why do you need r_i2c for ARISC?
<smaeul> voltage regulators (e.g. sy8106a)
dev1990 has quit [Quit: Konversation terminated!]
<anarsoul|2> oh, OK
<smaeul> though with the ARM CPUs off, it's not critical that the regulator is disabled, since it's not loaded
mavkhimenia has joined #linux-sunxi
<anarsoul|2> (it's not on pine64 nor pinebook though)
<smaeul> but on H6, the AXP is on i2c, and we definitely need to talk to it
<anarsoul|2> smaeul: oh, so it's not on rsb anymore?
<smaeul> right
<anarsoul|2> I see
<smaeul> probably more problematic is forwarding NMIs (AXP interrupts) to Linux
<smaeul> I haven't been able to get them to show up in the GIC, no matter how configured, even though it's listed in the manual
<anarsoul|2> I guess I'll start testing it once support fo crust lands into u-boot and ATF
<anarsoul|2> smaeul: hm, is it connected to NMI on A64 as well?
<smaeul> yes
* anarsoul|2 needs to check schematics
<anarsoul|2> smaeul: so all axp interrupts are signaled via NMI?
<smaeul> but ARISC has to own R_INTC or it can't really have a useful OS :)
<smaeul> yes, that's the pin it's connected to (R_INTC IRQ 0)
<anarsoul|2> is it possible to use some other mechanism to signal interrupt to linux?
<smaeul> well ideally the IRQ is also available via GIC directly
<smaeul> otherwise we'd have to use something like the msgbox as a doorbell
mavkhimenia has quit [Ping timeout: 246 seconds]
<anarsoul|2> and msgbox isn't supported yet?
