<sb0>
whitequark, how long does loading a 10MB kernel take?
<whitequark>
sb0: never tried
<whitequark>
you are quite likely to be limited by compilation speed
<whitequark>
though, wait, I optimized that already
<whitequark>
no idea then what will break first
<sb0>
this sort of stuff needs to be tested
<whitequark>
ok, I will do so
<whitequark>
the qemu vnc server is astoundingly buggy. this surprises me, because I installed windows in kvm ~3 years ago and it was absolutely trivial and very robust
<whitequark>
no idea what they managed to fuck up in meantime
<whitequark>
anyway, I figured out which two bugs it has, you'll get working vnc tomorrow...
<sb0>
does windows support some sort of remote shell? i don't want to be using GUI...
<sb0>
(except for testing the qt stuff obviously, so vnc is good)
<whitequark>
there's powershell
<whitequark>
powershell even has most unix commands as builtin aliases...
<whitequark>
oh, and MS integrated openssh into powershell at some point, but I think win7 is not new enough
<whitequark>
it's quite bizarre to see this brave new world where MS well-intentionally contributes to FOSS
<sb0>
it seems they even send representatives to many FLOSS conferences these days...
<whitequark>
they were a #1 contributor to Linux kernel for quite some time
<sb0>
it started long ago at solutions linux in paris, where they were systematically trolled
<whitequark>
really though FOSS changed as much as MS
<whitequark>
Linux Foundation no longer has any community members, only corporations
<whitequark>
and they went as far as to change their bylaws to exclude the last one
<rjo>
sb0: did you get that mail to henning moritz that i cc'ed to you? i suspect that a part of my mail setup is swallowing mails.
