<Fardale> with opam 2, you can use: opam upgrade --unlock-base
<Fardale> but be carefull, you could end up with a not stable version, so you may want to give the version
<Fardale> opam upgrade --unlock-base ocaml.4.07.1
<jadrian> unknown option...
<jadrian> maybe I need to upgrade opam...
<Fardale> which version of opam do you use ?
<jadrian> 1.2.2
<Fardale> this option is for 2.*
<jadrian> should I just upgrade the opam binary and run that?
<jadrian> or am I going to run into trouble if I try to use opam 2.0 having a 1.2.x config?
<Fardale> I don't know
<Fardale> the other solution is switch export and switch import in a new switch
<jadrian> right, guess it's a good idea to export just in case, then I'll upgrade opam version, and see how it goes
<jadrian> thanks!
<Fardale> jadrian: https://opam.ocaml.org/doc/Install.html <= you need to run a command after the upgrade
<jadrian> ah thanks
<jadrian> I had been in looking at the Upgrade Guide section in those docs
<jadrian> but they actually have that in the install section, and the upgrade section only appears to list the differences between both versions
<jadrian> thanks I was going to miss that

<sspi> What's the current status of http2 and tls1.3 support for OCaml? I notice that there is an effort for http2 at https://github.com/anuragsoni/h2 - but not sure how serious it is.
<freyr69> no production-ready http2 atm

<notnotdan> Hi. Is there a way to use opam only to install dependencies for a package?
<notnotdan> eg without building the package itself
<zozozo> notnotdan: opam install --deps-only
<notnotdan> Oh, thanks zozozo. How did I miss it, I swear I grep'd the help page

<oni-on-ion> oh hi vincenttoups . ocaml is great for game dev.
<oni-on-ion> just connect it with raylib (very small C gfx lib SDL style) and you can compile for the web and performant native with the same code base. awesome!
<oni-on-ion> raylib and ocaml are both nice platforms for native and web (which are sometimes the same thing anyway)

<Leonidas> oni-on-ion: are you really recommending ocaml as a gamedev platform to use with raylib, for which you have to write the bindings yourself?
<Leonidas> I mean, by that metric ocaml is great for a number of things, you just have to do all the heavy lifting besides actually doing the thing you want.
<Armael> well at least now I know about raylib, which looks pretty nice :p

<companion_cube> not on opam :(
<Armael> well yes its a C lib
<companion_cube> meanwhile: https://github.com/deltaphc/raylib-rs
<Armael> shhh go away
<companion_cube> :DDD
<Leonidas> games and microcontrollers are indeed the two things I think rust has a reasonable advantage over using ocaml
<companion_cube> anywhere where allocations are really a liability, I'd say
<Leonidas> yes
