Hm, is there a way to force the firmware to go into fastboot mode on every boot (i.e. to load a kernel over usb)?

I tried nuking the main kernel, but that brings up recovery instead. :-) I guess removing the recovery kernel is next thing to try, but that will have to wait until tonight.
