<d1b2> <mubes> @azonenberg Please keep up documenting stuff like this.... I, at least, am learning from a distance, by osmosis, about stuff I know pitifully little about. So...ta.

<azonenberg> mubes: what
<azonenberg> what's "this"?
<d1b2> <mubes> all of the above, explaining what you're doing and what you're learning. Those 20 lines of externalising your reasoning about the resonances teaches much. It's appreciated.
<azonenberg> ah, ok
<azonenberg> yeah
<azonenberg> if you don't follow my twitter, that's a good source of live lab updates too
<d1b2> <mubes> I'm not much of a twit, but will take a look
<azonenberg> I just did a fairly long thread about resistor parasitics in response to somebody's question
<d1b2> <mubes> meanwhile, I'll go back to beating my head on my Digitul problems 🙂
<azonenberg> I also dump lots of random in-progress results and screenshots there
<d1b2> <mubes> Will be interesting. Watching peoples reasoning develop is very educational. I'm terrible at waiting to just put up the finished thing, but there's a lot of value in the process too.
<azonenberg> Yeah I have been making a point of live-tweeting my R&D work as much as I can
<azonenberg> because people seem to find it interesting and the questions they ask can act like a sort of rubber duck debugging as well
<azonenberg> And every once in a while i get a useful suggestion or tip
<azonenberg> The increased social media footprint has also proven to be an asset at times WRT giving me contacts that would be hard to get otherwise
<azonenberg> I've had very interesting conversations with (among others) the CEOs of Pico and SensePeek, VP of ops at Sonnet, VP of engineering at CD International (cable manufacturer)
<d1b2> <mubes> Well, it was just a shout out to say that those of us further down the food chain appreciate it too 🙂 Interested to see how you get along with the changes in the Tek firmware too. Held off buying one of those based on your comments..
<azonenberg> In some cases they saw my tweets and reached out to me, in other cases I made initial contact via email or something but they mentioned they had looked me up
<azonenberg> Yeah I'm waiting to hear back. They said they wanted me to look at beta firmware and then that was the last I heard
<azonenberg> Not sure if they changed their mind or if it's taking longer to finish the firmware than anticipated
<d1b2> <mubes> Well, if they want a UK Beta tester too you can ping me 🙂 My keysight MSOX4 is getting a bit long in the tooth...
<azonenberg> Also very very interesting... I'm seeing some significant loss in my latest sim (actual gerber import) vs the more rough model of the probe based on hand editing the imported v1.3 layout
<azonenberg> Not done running but it's about 1.5 dB more loss at 12 GHz in the tip area than the previous sim predicted
<azonenberg> very curious why that is
<azonenberg> The new resistor footprints are smaller than the original ones, but that should have improved things rather than making them worse
<azonenberg> I made the ground socket shorter but that means we transition to a full coplanar mode sooner. again, should have improved things
<azonenberg> i also switched from merged vias in the tip area to separate individual vias for higher fidelity
<azonenberg> Unsure if that's a contributing factor, i will likely do a fully merged sim after this one and compare
<azonenberg> Actually let me queue that up right now, with any luck it will be done by tyhe time i wake up
