The basic idea is, #4-40 nut goes in the little slot

4-40 thumbscrew comes in from the bottom

when tightened, it pushes against the upper jaw moving it away from the lower

the lower will stay pretty much fixed since it's so much stiffer

i don't need any one material/process often enough to justify the time and expense of having one in house

oh and MJF glass filled nylon

Also my lab is tight on space

A 3d printer would be one more thing to get in the way

I limit my in house capabilities to things that I use often and either need quick turn on, or require interactive operation (like test equipment)
