<Na> icee: I'm probably just missing something here, but can't you do that with two circles a point, and a maybe line joining the circles' centres if you don't have something else to stop them from intersecting elsewhere?
<icee> yah, circle, circle, point, on curve, on curve, line between centers, on line
<icee> but i've got 4 circles. huge circle A is tangent to B & D; circle B is tangent to C; circle C is tangent to D
<icee> pretty soon it's a lot of geometry before i've even doen anything real
<icee> (and a lot of scaling things around so i don't grab the wrong thing when building up the geom)
<Na> Fair enough. In that case, you may be interested in using some custom styles (or, depending on the design, breaking things out into more groups/components)
<Na> In the custom styles case, select the lines you want hidden, right click on one of them, select "Assign to Style" -> "Newly Created Custom Style", then check the "show these objects on screen" box at the bottom of the property browser window
