<whitequark> flip214: the new file you sent seems completely broken
<whitequark> i'm not sure what to make of it at all
<whitequark> flip214: ah sorry I missed your instructions
<flip214> whitequark: "broken" as in can't be opened?
<whitequark> as in it didn't make sense without reading your instructions
<whitequark> flip214: take a look at this: https://cloud.whitequark.org/s/NPN7f5kjAKrZpM8
<whitequark> hopefully it'll be helpful
<flip214> g002 says "not closed contour"
<flip214> "or not all same style"
<whitequark> yep
<whitequark> the contour does not become closed until g004
<whitequark> there's an alternative way to express the same thing, let me show
<flip214> hmmm, just dragging the leftmost point in the upper row got the grid misaligned... and now got me a "redundant constraints". https://cloud.whitequark.org/s/NPN7f5kjAKrZpM8
<flip214> thanks a lot, will try to integrate that!
<flip214> but please tell me - am I doing something wrong with the workflow described in the mail?
<flip214> or is that a bug?
<whitequark> I'm honestly not sure, I can't really follow what you mean there, and I don't have time at the moment to investigate any further
<whitequark> in general, if you have two coincident lines, extruding them won't work
<whitequark> (non-construction lines)
<whitequark> so if what you describe results in that case, then it's not supposed to work
<flip214> when dragging points in your examples
<whitequark> that looks weird, can you post an slvs file?
<flip214> well, I tried to split edges where they intersect... but one of the new lines uses the wrong start point, and so there are coincident edges (and points wrongly associated)
<flip214> whitequark: that was your slvs, just dragged the leftmost point of the topmost around a bit
<whitequark> I think there were some fixes post 2.3 related to the split edge command
<whitequark> yeah, I'll need an slvs file to figure out what happened there
<whitequark> your screenshot doesn't tell me anything
<whitequark> in general there's a problem that the "fully constrained" sketches actually have some degrees of freedom left, which are basically binary
<whitequark> i.e. a pentagon and a five pointed star are the same sketch with 0 DOF, and you can transform one to the other by dragging the points
<whitequark> (to do this in practice you'll probably need to relax the constraints first)
<whitequark> oh, yeah
<whitequark> that's exactly what happened after you dragged
<_whitenotifier-f> [solvespace] phkahler commented on issue #631: Windows artifact complains about vcomp140d.dll - https://git.io/Jf5uf
<whitequark> there's an open bug about this, but the solution isn't easy
<flip214> ack, thanks
<flip214> please do the 3.0 release soon, so that I can enjoy a fixed "split edge" ;)

<whitequark> you can build the master branch yourself
<whitequark> fwiw I don't know if it's actually fixed, I didn't check
<whitequark> I just remember that there were various improvements to that tool
<flip214> whitequark: not fixed as per 3d51b3949b23b9bd0f25eea39dca342fc9830949
