<dukedave> So, I just started on a new project, and the Gemfile contains, 'consular-osx'; yet I'm on Ubuntu :\
<dukedave> Is there anyway to exclude a gem based on platform?
<tbuehlmann> there's the :platform option for gems, but you won't find "ubuntu" there
<dukedave> tbuehlmann: hmm,
<tbuehlmann> but you can decide what gems to use based on your current platform. have a look at this: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/8420414/how-to-add-mac-specific-gems-to-bundle-on-mac-but-not-on-linux
<dukedave> It seems like it should be the gems responsibility to no-op on a platform it doesn't support, bt this one just blows up on install
<dukedave> Ooh..
<tbuehlmann> it will be installed either way, but not required
flowerhack_ has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<tbuehlmann> you'll have to find a platform from http://bundler.io/v1.7/man/gemfile.5.html#PLATFORMS-platforms- or install the gems with a --without flag and the group you don't want to install

<dukedave> tbuehlmann: so, it looks like, because it fails during install (not just when required), there's no way around it, because the .lock doesn't have any concept of groups, and so can't express the difference
x1337807x has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<dukedave> For the sake of a conclusion: We're just taking it out of the Gemfile, and making it opt in :)
<tbuehlmann> that's why you'd need a group for these gems and install without this group
<tbuehlmann> good idea
