<cantlockversion> trying to lock bundler version by adding gem 'bundler', '~> 1.9.6'
<cantlockversion> but getting error message like so: "Bundler could not find compatible versions for gem "bundler":"
<jhass> cantlockversion: could you gist your Gemfile and Gemfile.lock?
<cantlockversion> unfortunately i can't (company policy), but bundle was working fine before I added this line "gem 'bundler', '~> 1.10.0'"
<cantlockversion> currently in Gemfile.lock, the only reference to bundler is under rails (3.2.13)
<cantlockversion> "bundler (~> 1.0)" is what's in the current lock file
<cantlockversion> oh and it's jruby. not sure if that makes a difference
<cantlockversion> just straight up doesn't seem to like it when I reference the bundler gem in the gemfile at all
<jhass> you do run bundle update bundler ?
<cantlockversion> i saw that as a suggested fix for a similar looking problem
<cantlockversion> but I get "Could not find gem 'bundler'. Did you mean builder?" when i do bundle update bundler
<cantlockversion> I can run "gem install bundler" without problems though
<jhass> mh, weird
<jhass> though hard to dig into without seeing the lock :/
<cantlockversion> sorry about that, wish I could show you the whole codebase but hands are tied due to the nature of the work
<cantlockversion> are there any ideas you have off the top of your head that you want to confirm by looking at the lock?
<cantlockversion> or anything possibly out of the ordinary that I could look out for?
<jhass> well, I had looked for what you looked for already actually, if there are conflicting version constraints
<jhass> you've been inconsistent about what you added btw, is it 'gem "bundler", "~> 1.9.6"' or 'gem "bundler", "~> 1.10.0"' ?
<cantlockversion> oops my bad, it's the former. I was switching around version numbers to see if that made any difference
<jhass> ah, okay, I can reproduce by building a lock for just 'gem "rails", "3.2.13"' and then adding that
<jhass> interesting
<jhass> I think that might be a bug, bundle update bundler should downgrade it
<cantlockversion> huh
<cantlockversion> i'm very surprised you're able to reproduce it
<jhass> what's your bundle -v ?
<cantlockversion> I was sure it had something to do with my weird setup for this particular project
<cantlockversion> "Bundler version 1.10.2"
<jhass> could you try removing that and installing 1.9.x ?
<jhass> 'gem "bundler", "~> 1.10.0"' does work for me btw

<jhass> or use the following binstub http://paste.mrzyx.de/pcgqlxwr7
<jhass> that works for me

<cantlockbundlerv> me again jhass
<cantlockbundlerv> connection got little wonky
<cantlockbundlerv> you're right, ~> 1.10.0 works
<cantlockbundlerv> I must have rerun bundler before making the change or something
<cantlockbundlerv> was switching between windows and tabs like crazy so that's the most likely explanation
<jhass> you can use the following binstub http://paste.mrzyx.de/pcgqlxwr7

<jhass> save to a file, chmod +x, use it in place of bundle
<cantlockbundlerv> shoot, I have to leave, but I see your name here on chat so I'll find a way to get in touch if I find a resolution
<cantlockbundlerv> very much appreciate the help
