<WeirdThall> Hi, was wondering if I could get a bit of assistance with some syntax. Im using cinch with zwily's bitbot and I want it to check against a users nick not the freenode 'number'. For example use WeirdThall instead of b0192692 that it gets from WeirdThall!b0192692.
<WeirdThall> Currently it uses https://gist.github.com/weirdthall/7348203, would I need to change username(username) to username(user.nick)?
<abolishme> I don't think this room is as active as it should be
<abolishme> i doubt you'll get an answer. try stack overflow

<Netfeed> AJ-Lee: does that code even work? isn't that just a free unless-statement and then there's a reply? shouldn't it be something like: m.reply "msg" unless m.user_nick == bot.nick?
<Netfeed> and i doubt you actually need that check, the bot's actions doesn't cause events afaik
<Netfeed> oh, there where an extra end there, missed that
<Netfeed> strange formating
<AJ-Lee> Yeah the code worked for when the bot joins, it says what it's supposed to, it worked for a single static line on join of another user...
<AJ-Lee> BUT it's not working since I added the randomizer.
<Netfeed> because the method is on the object and not on m
<ayonix> yeah, just wanted to ask where m.greets is defined :S
<ayonix> also, you're missing an m.user.nick in the first greeting i think
<AJ-Lee> Oh, okay.
<AJ-Lee> Let me see
<AJ-Lee> http://pastebin.com/rGYbyKPB I changed it and it's still not working, and not giving me an exception
<Netfeed> sigh
<Netfeed> m.reply "#{greets}"
<AJ-Lee> Yeah, that's not working either.
<Netfeed> did you remove m from the def of greets?
<AJ-Lee> Yeah
<AJ-Lee> http://pastebin.com/wScHC1SM here's the new modified code if it helps/
<AJ-Lee> -/+.
<ayonix> another thing is probably where greeting is defined :)
<ayonix> and why is there no end after def greet(m)
<AJ-Lee> That triggers an exception
<ayonix> http://pastebin.com/RraW7UNf I'd do it like that i think
<ayonix> why would that throw an exceptioN?
<AJ-Lee> ayonix: you did it
<AJ-Lee> Thanks!
