is it safe to do `if m.user.authname` or is that considered private API .. is there a public API I should use to check if a user is authorized I am missing?
<bazzy>
I see it :3
<bazzy>
authed?
<bazzy>
:)
<dominikh>
bazzy: authname is part of the public API
<bazzy>
thanks dominikh
<dominikh>
anything that's private is documented as private on rubydoc
<bazzy>
been wanting to tell you: nice hair :3
<dominikh>
bazzy: funny you would say that, I just cut it off yesterday
<bazzy>
NO! Then I shall take the awesomeness as I am growing mine out ^_^
<bazzy>
lol
<dominikh>
old photo, too. my hair was far longer nowadays. and it became a huge pain in the butt
<dominikh>
(figuratively)
<bazzy>
aw man, I hope you play rock music!! Its a great use for hair like that!
<bazzy>
it's*
<dominikh>
haha, I'm afraid not :P
<bazzy>
is there a cinch bot in here?
<dominikh>
but now I have a buzz cut, so… not good for any music :P
<bazzy>
!s/is/test/
<dominikh>
none I am aware of. bots aren't permitted in this channel
<bazzy>
hehe .. so I assume that means you play no instruments?
<dominikh>
(other than my own, but I'm not running one here)
<dominikh>
no, I don't play music. I enjoy it purely passively
<bazzy>
I got znc working with my bot btw, it's lovely .. although I've been really wanting to somehow -- seamlessly "activate" the updated bot before dropping the old one offline for lower downtime ..
<dominikh>
you can make use of ZNC's playback feature, so the new bot gets the messages it missed and reacts to them. then the restart only incurs some delay
<bazzy>
actually.. I think I've mispoken .. I think it would be cool if somehow it said to users "I'm away" or you get the point..
<dominikh>
that'd be annoying as fuck imo
<bazzy>
lol
<dominikh>
bots are too spammy as it is most of the time
<dominikh>
they shouldn't be even more annoying
<bazzy>
well something is better than nothing .. a lot of users play my bot's game and then would be like WTF happened to the bot :3
<bazzy>
if it didn't respond at all
<bazzy>
they would say my bot is broken! hehe
<bazzy>
I guess it's not a big deal
<dominikh>
the restart should take a few seconds at most. alternatively you could patch Cinch to accept an existing socket on a file descriptor, so it can reuse the old connection
<bazzy>
The game gets so intense that if I take the bot down .. everyone is all WTF ... lol
<dominikh>
it'd just need to sync its state
<dominikh>
(and I don't know if ruby's openssl integration supports resuming an existing stream)
<bazzy>
Would you like to try the game? It's currently hosted on ESPER #wordgame
<bazzy>
yeah forget implementing that .. I've got a lot of high-level implementation TODO already...
<dominikh>
I don't exactly have time for games :) what kind of game is it?
<bazzy>
I invite you to see yourself :3 there are people in there now , playing is pretty self-explanatory and is not long-winded
<dominikh>
well, again, haven't exactly got time for games ;)
<bazzy>
aw, even a few minutes?
<bazzy>
a game could last about that time
<bazzy>
:D
<dominikh>
just tell me what the game is
<bazzy>
I refuse! if you can listen you can try it hehehe
<dominikh>
then I guess I'll never know.
<bazzy>
I'm ok with that
<bazzy>
lol
<bazzy>
