<hegemoOn>
well my question would be rephrased like this: any up to date documentation about how to build a linux distro on cubieboard 1
<hegemoOn>
?

Hi, on my Cubietruck, I formatted a microSD card with Fedora21, and have a CP2102 USB to TTL UART cable connected to my Fedora-21 laptop.
<kashyapc>
Once I insert the micrSD card into Cubietruck and power it on (by connecting the USB to DC cable), I don't see anything on the serial console.
<kashyapc>
I connected to the serial console via '$ screen /dev/ttyUSB0 115200'
<ThePiixelMonster>
actually a good price for it? I would like one for doing some web work and being able to set it up when visiting family and also if its possible some very light 3d work (low poly modelling) on it... Would it indeed be capable?
<kashyapc>
hegemoOn: The $ symbol was a copy/paste, of course, I connected via the correct ttyUSB0 device that showed up in systemd journal logs
<kashyapc>
hegemoOn: And, the screen session is connected as root
<hegemoOn>
ok
<hegemoOn>
:)

premoboss: hegemoOn: Okay, just installed minicom, and did the serial device setup to /dev/ttyUSB0
<kashyapc>
Now, tried to send (S) an ASCII text file to test. . .
<premoboss>
good
<premoboss>
have a try, to me it works everytime i tryed
<hegemoOn>
:)
<hegemoOn>
everything works fine with screen for me
<premoboss>
good boy :-)
* kashyapc
never tried with minicom before, still fiddling
<ThePiixelMonster>
anyone running linux on the cubieboard3 ?
<kashyapc>
hegemoOn: Do you think if I could be missing something? I connected the CP2102 cable Rx to Tx (and vice-versa) to Cubietruck
<premoboss>
there are more way to reach the same town...
<hegemoOn>
[root@alarm ~]# uname -a
<hegemoOn>
Linux alarm 3.4.90-4-ARCH #1 PREEMPT Sat Dec 6 11:17:50 MST 2014 armv7l GNU/Linux
<kashyapc>
The 3rd is the GND on CP2012 connected to the GND on Cubetruck
<hegemoOn>
then in minicom did you define the link speed ?
* hegemoOn
never used minicom

I am trying to figure out if I would actually be able to do some light 3d work on one of these things, could someone attempt to install and run Blender (www.blender.org) ad tell me if you are able to run it ok? I think that I should be able to... but dot want to drop £75 on one without knowing...
<kashyapc>
hegemoOn: I guess it took the default
<ThePiixelMonster>
ad = and
<ThePiixelMonster>
n key doesnt work too well on this thing
<kashyapc>
hegemoOn: Were you asking me - about "are you sure of your plugging"?
<hegemoOn>
kashyapc: yes :)
<kashyapc>
hegemoOn: If so, yeah, like I mentioned above: Rx to Tx from Cable (and vice versa), and GND from cable to GND on Cubeitruck.
<kashyapc>
hegemoOn: And, the device shows up in my system logs, and I can connect to it via serial console.
<kashyapc>
hegemoOn: Btw, when I connect the USB to DC power cable to Cubietruck, the 'green' (data) light on CP2012 cable gets turned off.
* kashyapc
just begun to play with this, feel free to disregard me, if you're occupied with something else.
<ThePiixelMonster>
Well I guess I will check back some other time for some help... thanks any way guys, sucks that nobody is able to confirm for me though, at the least it looks possible not sure on what i would have to set up for it to run though..

<kashyapc>
Ah, nice. The normal USB to TTL UART cable I got from Cubietruck worked just fine to boot into my Cubietruck
<kashyapc>
Crazy, then I needlessly bought this CP2102 cable, wonder if it's faulty. But it's detected as a device
