I wanted to put Freedombox https://www.freedombox.org/ on the Cubietruck. You can install it manually if you put Debian on first but I'm not sure about Armbian...

well I don't know if the board is set to boot first from nand, but assuming it is and you have the tools to do so, you would need to write uboot to the nand and have the config for uboot set to use root volume from SSD. Otherwise you will need to boot from uboot on a sdcard and also make updates to boot config to load root from the SSD (sata) instead of from mmc

Lolz I have tried booting Armbian from the MicroSD it won let me login with default password: root / 1234

when it booted up the first time did you let the volume resize to complete fully or did you maybe get impatient and replug it in
