<nmz787>
welp, just ordered diffusion pump oil. maybe next weekend I'll have my radiator and water pump setup as well as get this diffusion pump pulled off and cleaned up (tried running this SEM after it had sat in my possesion for a year and a half... not sure how long it sat before that)
<nmz787>
bought some of the ECO-705
<nmz787>
the main chamber still seems to be under vacuum though :) so I hope things are relatively OK after I get new oil in there and some new roughing hoses installed, along with this proper cooling setup
<nmz787>
100 bucks shipped for 473mL... I read online 50-200mL seems to be the range, depending on exact pump size and specs
<nmz787>
but since I don't have any specs, I'm going to have to interpolate or measure what I pour out, at least
* nmz787
notes to buy a silicone spatula just for this purpose
<sync_>
the amount is not super critical
<sync_>
but I would swap it for a turbo
<nmz787>
yeaaah, I have been checking ebay for a year or two, now and then...
<nmz787>
they seem expensive
<nmz787>
I mean, I only paid $200 for this whole setup, I guess not including an addition $200 in a few truck rentals
<nmz787>
I see turbos for maybe 200-400, but they don't seem to have controllers... and when they include them, they always seem like $800+
<Noxz>
I'm trying to plan out my watchmaking (and new chemistry) lab.. I recently moved (bought) a house.. still working on various fixes around
<nmz787>
I am still giddy that it didn't blow up completely when I finally decided to try turning it on a few weeks ago
<nmz787>
Noxz: I am in a similar situation... bought this SEM when I was moving... finally got a new circuit wired just for it into my home-office/lab
<Noxz>
I picked up some nice Agilis stages a few months back
<Noxz>
25mm max travel
<Noxz>
LS-25
<Noxz>
AG-LS25
<nmz787>
nice! what resolution?
<Noxz>
minimum step of 0.05um
<nmz787>
50 nm
<nmz787>
cool
<Noxz>
got 9 of them, plus a 8 axis controller
<nmz787>
wow
<nmz787>
that sounds like an great set of tooling to be able to use
<Noxz>
took a little tinkering to get the commands to work over standard serial communication, instead of using their crummy software
<Noxz>
absolutely
<Noxz>
I'm going for some MEMS methods of making small watch parts
<Noxz>
is the goal
<nmz787>
sweet
<nmz787>
I have access to a FIB for some milling ideas
<Noxz>
I think I will rig a microscope sometime to look closer at what I end up with
<nmz787>
but I don't think it has a programmable stage, only beamshift
<Noxz>
I am not familiar with beamshift?
<nmz787>
it's basically just shifting the entire ion/electron beam in the overall field of view
<Noxz>
ohh
<nmz787>
even if you're only rastering in a tiny portion, I guess if you have great enough dynamic range on your beam scan controls, you can shift things a good amount
<Noxz>
nice
<Noxz>
woopse, apparentl the AG-LS25 has 12mm of travel, not 25, they have another one that does the 25
<Noxz>
AG-LS25-27
<Noxz>
can do 27
<nmz787>
still sounds like fair amount
<nmz787>
I have a laser etcher I was playing with, trying to direct-expose photoresist, it was only 30mm square
<nmz787>
was/is
<Noxz>
that's the goal for this, UV
<nmz787>
ah
<nmz787>
sweet
<nmz787>
I got a bluray writer laser sled and an open-source controller for it
<nmz787>
which has focus feedback and control ;)
<sync_>
idk, even if I'd spend 1k on a turbo, not having the hassle with a diff is worth it
<nmz787>
sync_: I'm checking ebay now :) but one thing that comes to mind in addition to the pump+controller is needing an adapter and gaskets/seals/flanges
<nmz787>
that is all foreign to me at the moment
<nmz787>
or mostly
<sync_>
it's not really difficult
<SN00N>
awww, messages \o/
<Noxz>
;)
<SN00N>
lel, the catch phrase from pfeiffer
<SN00N>
"vacuum pumps from the leader."
<SN00N>
hm, what's the price for a hipace 300?
<SN00N>
oh :-O
<SN00N>
> 9kUSD
<SN00N>
hipace 80 6k
<SN00N>
hi? :<
