<dshankar> bah! quite frustrated with the past weeks efforts
<dshankar> i've been struggling to get a browser (chromium or firefox) to use hardware video decode
<dshankar> I'm wondering of (somehow) the older releases had a browser capable of HW vpudec. Example: http://boundarydevices.com/latest-freescale-ubuntu-i-mx6/
<dshankar> it claims "Accelerated video playback through GStreamer/Totem" as well as "HTML5 video playback in Firefox"
<dshankar> but I suspect the HTML5 video playback *is not* actually on the VPU/not hw accel
<dshankar> frustrating that gstreamer is capable of vpudec, but no browser can...
<rz2k> I bet that firefox can be configured to use gstreamer
<rz2k> I mean compile time
<dshankar> yeah
<dshankar> rz2k: checking buildconfig on firefox doesn't show --enable-gstreamer so I'm guessing the binary I'm using wasn't compiled with that flag. will attempt that next
