<thecageybee> I just ordered gk802 and have a few q's
<thecageybee> hi jas. just the man
<jas-hacks_> thecageybee: yep

<thecageybee> what would you say is your best/most complete/stable release you've done? Can decide what img to go for

<jas-hacks_> thecageybee: projectgu has a headless debian image
<thecageybee> sweet. so the most recent. I want to use lxde. will gpu/vpu still work with lxde
<jas-hacks_> thecageybee: Not sure about lxde, you would have try it. Most of the desktop managers use OpenGL which has limited support on imx6, therefore not all apps are accelerated.
<thecageybee> i'm a bit confused how to install. That's just the rootfs right? if I dd it to sdcard do I have to grab/dd uboot/kernel seperately?
<jas-hacks_> Yes, uboot and kernel are separate, uboot is dd to the start of the SD card, kernel get copied onto the rootfs if you use my uboot.
<pH5> hi, in case somebody (with serial) is interested: the barebox bootloader has basic GK802 support now: http://git.pengutronix.de/?p=barebox.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/next
<jas-hacks_> thecageybee: be warned GK802 can get pretty hot depending on the CPU part number you find inside. It may require a heatsink mod.
<thecageybee> are kernel sources and configs you used to compile included? I want to try to get dvb working at some point & guess drivers/modules will need to be compiled
<pH5> jas-hacks_: are there GK802 with other CPUs than rev. 1.2 i.MX6Q?
<jas-hacks_> pH5: seems like there may be some with rev 1.1 in the wild
<pH5> Phew, I got lucky then.
<jas-hacks_> pH5: hste has a rev 1.1 which doesn't get as hot
<jas-hacks_> pH5: does barebox require uboot to boot?
<pH5> jas-hacks_: Interesting I've only seen a SabreSD with 1.1, and that gets hot, too.
<pH5> jas-hacks_: it gets booted directly from the rom code, just like uboot
<jas-hacks_> pH5: my GK802 had an odd part number SC6Q888YM10AC and I think I fried it :)
<jas-hacks_> pH5: so its a replacement for uboot?
<pH5> yes. there is no proper default environment yet, and no hdmi support, so you need the serial console to do anything useful with it.
<pH5> the included device tree can boot the current mainline kernel.
<pH5> (which of course also is lacking hdmi support)
<jas-hacks_> pH5: So why use it instead of uboot?
<pH5> Probably not many reasons yet :) Personally, i find it more comfortable to use for kernel development.

<rz2k> jas-hacks_: its the standard part number
<rz2k> sc=special
<rz2k> pc=prototype
<rz2k> mc=massproduction
<rz2k> your special model has HDCP enabled
<rz2k> mine is pc6q
<rz2k> because I ordered from first batch

<jas-hacks_> rz2k: but the 888 doesn't match normal part numbering scheme
<rz2k> try emailing freescale
<rz2k> it might have something like CAAM disabled
<rz2k> or whatever

<pH5> Has anybody gotten bluetooth to work outside of the android image?
<jas-hacks_> pH5: had it partially working
<GasVesa> hi jas-hacks_ can u explain me where to put this line? setenv fbmem ""; i'm a bit confused
<jas-hacks_> GasVesa: In boot.scr, if there is a line in there already then replace it with that one.
<jas-hacks_> GasVesa: if no line present then nothing to replace

<rz2k> jas-hacks_: did you encounter any bugs with hdmi lately?
<jas-hacks_> rz2k: none that I can remember
<rz2k> on 4.0.0 bsp from freescale on my wandboard if I dont connect hdmi and at same time use SATA and define hdmi as video output - system freezes with stuck interrupt
<rz2k> if I connect hdmi - there are no problems
<rz2k> it really bugs me how this can happen
<pH5> jas-hacks_: Cool. Do you happen to have any notes on the process?
<jas-hacks_> rz2k: Is that on the quad?
<rz2k> yes
<pH5> Like, which pads do I have to mux uart2 to to talk to the BT chip?
<rz2k> pH5: we have muxing done in the kernel, check https://github.com/imx6-dongle/linux-imx
<rz2k> jas reversed it from standard android firmware
<jas-hacks_> rz2k: There was a fix to correctly report if hdmi was not detected in 4.0.0, that may be a possibility
<rz2k> may I have a link to it?
<jas-hacks_> ph5: dgp created a kernel module to toggle the pins correctly, I will have to find the source for it.

<pH5> rz2k, jas-hacks_ : thanks!

<jas-hacks_> ph5: Here is dgp's kernel module http://pastebin.com/5ymsY97N. This will toggle the gpio pins for the rda chip. dgp got it working with hicattach binary in the android image. I tried the hicattach from ubuntu and it works some times but not others.
