<Tenkawa>
anyone got any theories on what would break ctrl-U booting for everything except a chromeos recovery image?
<Tenkawa>
after trying to update to linux-next tree now it instantly beeps trying a sd or usb image boot that was working just fine
<Tenkawa>
I even tried dd'ing the working kernrl partition back and no go
<Tenkawa>
feels like it did something to the firmware
<Tenkawa>
it did allow me to put it into developer mode however thats as far as I can get it

<Tenkawa>
drasticly
<si1v3r>
Measure it!
<si1v3r>
Science!!!
<Tenkawa>
haaha
<Tenkawa>
indeed
<Tenkawa>
I did hsave to use the 3.19-next branch
<Tenkawa>
at least I was able to avoid nv-uboot :)
<si1v3r>
you made a fit image?
<Tenkawa>
yes
<si1v3r>
interesting. I didn't think that was doing to work.
<Tenkawa>
yeah I have all the mkboot and vboot_util stuff scripted
<si1v3r>
did you have to sign it with the dev key?
<Tenkawa>
yep
<si1v3r>
Shit that's actually pretty kickass.
<si1v3r>
Throw it up on github or something.
<Tenkawa>
that was why i really didnt want to use nv-buoot
<Tenkawa>
er nv-uboot
<Tenkawa>
ok.. I'll work on writing it up
<Tenkawa>
brb.. need to clone my card boot part

<Tenkawa>
wow thats fast
<si1v3r>
I got mine set up so when I build a new kernel, I just drop a uimage in /boot. that's easy enough for me.
<Tenkawa>
nod
<si1v3r>
Trying to get wireless working right now. Internal I'm not too hopeful for, but I have a usb stick that should work.
<Tenkawa>
oh it works here
<Tenkawa>
yours a peach or snow?
<Tenkawa>
I just switched the sdio piece to a module and it works great
<si1v3r>
peachpit
<si1v3r>
the 11 one
<si1v3r>
I had a snow when 3.16 was linux-next
<Tenkawa>
ahh
<Tenkawa>
I'm using snow so I dont know if peach uses a sdio
<Tenkawa>
x11 was lightning
<Tenkawa>
hehehh
<Tenkawa>
now comes the fun tweaking of more kernel parameters
<Tenkawa>
time for another reboot... brv
<Tenkawa>
er brb

<Wizzup>
Tenkawa: nice; what branch did you use, extra patches?
prahal has joined #linux-exynos
<Tenkawa>
3.19 from linux-next
<Tenkawa>
nothing extra
<si1v3r>
Wizzup: same here. I've got no wifi on peach pit though.
<Tenkawa>
so far so good
<Tenkawa>
si1v3r: does yours even try to load firmware?
<si1v3r>
I don't think so. the only messages about firmware that I saw were about my usb wifi.
<Tenkawa>
I actuallly just modified my kernel again to load the firmware in the kernel so I dont have to mess with the module
<Tenkawa>
si1v3r: what kind of wifi chip does peachpit use?
<si1v3r>
dunno. I figured it was an sdio one.
<Tenkawa>
hmmm
<Tenkawa>
whats the last kernel version that does have wifi support on peach pit?
<si1v3r>
mainline? There is not one.
<Tenkawa>
even chrome
<si1v3r>
Googles 3.8 fork does but that's not useful.
<Tenkawa>
that might at least help with the chip type
<Tenkawa>
only thing thats still broke for me so far thats annoying is trim support
<Tenkawa>
not a biggie however annoying
<Wizzup>
Tenkawa: so no patch for hdmi, etc
<Tenkawa>
Wizzup: havent hooked it up to my hdmi devices yet
<Tenkawa>
I dont typicly use hdmi
<Tenkawa>
only internal display
<si1v3r>
I thought it might be fun to connect a lapdock and do a dual seat deal. hehe
<Tenkawa>
hhehe
<Tenkawa>
brb.. kernel compile #16 I think

<javier__>
si1v3r, Wizzup: hdmi should be working on peach pit/pi in linux-next, what is only missing is that CONFIG_DRM_EXYNOS_HDMI is not enabled
<javier__>
or rather, the patches to have hdmi working have already been merged, have to test if nothing broke in -next
<javier__>
si1v3r: wifi is still not working on peach pit, I've a patch to add the needed support in the DTS but there is an issue with the dw_mmc driver
<javier__>
it is timing out when mmc commands are sent
<si1v3r>
Ok, we'll I'd love to test it when it's ready.
<si1v3r>
Is it a show stopper or a stability thing?
<javier__>
si1v3r: a blocker since the mmc device is not answering to mmc commands
<javier__>
I see that other people are facing the same issue with the dw_mmc driver and posted some patches in the mailing list so I need to look at those
<si1v3r>
Sounds like where snow was when I tried.
<si1v3r>
Well if I can get you any useful debug output, let me know.
<javier__>
si1v3r: snow is working well, so the problem seems to be with certain dw_mmc versions
