LiquidAcid: thanks for the help. the problem was the damn power cable. i had bought like 6 of those cheap mini barrel/usb cables and they are all bad :F now I know the exynos shuts down immediately without cpu throttling

and serial didn't work cause apparently i've managed to fry the tx part of the odroid serial adapter

yep, works now. i could test your u-boot version and 2017.09 next week, but now it works fine with 2017.01 which is good enough for me

my uboot branch just avoids some issue that i encountered with autoboot stopping because of garbage generated on the uart

i think the uart rx is missing some pullup/pulldown
