<mixfix41> i find i have to disable mp4 playback in the browser with the chromeos 3.8.11 due to just any browser relying on mp4 playback and audio issues
<mixfix41> https://www.w3schools.com/html/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml5_video and with this is a good link to test
<mixfix41> but some sites only play video with the mp4 enabled
<Wizzup> What issues exactly?
<mixfix41> oh on the xe303c12 laptop its like a crackling noise in seamonkey or firefox when streaming videos
<Wizzup> I have that too, indeed.
<mixfix41> i didnt think i could avoid that for awhile so i resorted to piping stuf to ffplay through youtubedl or wget but then i finally looked in about:config in firefox and disabled mp4 playback
<Wizzup> but also on mainline.
<Wizzup> I am not sure if it is a driver problem
<Wizzup> you mean whitenoise, I presue, btw
<Wizzup> presume*
<Wizzup> I have this, I think, with aac files. But only from firefox. Not from, say, mp4.
<Wizzup> or rather, mp4 containers with aac audio
<Wizzup> and mp3 always plays silently for me
<Wizzup> I thought it was a general issue on arm
<Wizzup> what distro are you running?
<Wizzup> hm, back in 10.
<mixfix41> slackware arm
<mixfix41> only in browsers ofcourse
<mixfix41> kernel is from arch linux peach
<mixfix41> this is the best distro for the laptop its very nice
<mixfix41> tried arch linux but i would only use it to learn applications
* Wizzup uses gentoo, just wanted to check, still not sure if it's a general firefox issue or distro/compile specific
<mixfix41> oh yea there arm handbook is unavailable but i assume once you learn portage you could be pretty up to date as such
<mixfix41> i think this quote tells me why i didnt use "ridiculous like Gentoo of LFS" and going straight to arch linux
<mixfix41> then slackware, but the guy who said that went from slackware to arch idk
<mixfix41> do you play any games on your laptop?
<mixfix41> ive installed wolfenstein in dosbox which works pretty good but the keyboard arrows arent ideal
<mixfix41> probably dont need dosbox either hmm
<Wizzup> no, don't play games - I also don't use the mali
<Wizzup> I run mainline, currently 4.12, time I update to 4.15
