something i weird i noticed when im using an older kernel version, while backing up data, if the data isnt transferred on this laptop, the mounting on the laptop wont be able to mount anymore but will be mountable on other systems and (or an upstream kernel on the laptop) kinda weird stumbling on that since i thought id be familiar with that after this amount of time but *shurgs* now i know

I'm guessing they were in the wrong place to make that comment. But, one suggestion to anyone who runs into a similar issue. If you copy a filesystem with dd, you will have issues with some systems because both of those filesystems will have the same UUID.

So, for systems that refer by UUID, bad things can happen. You should still be able to mount by location /dev/whatever.
