<marcodiego> ayaka posted a patch on jan 5 saying "Those patches are not for merging". On Jan 3, ayaka posted an updated and improved patchset but still incomplete. That means ayaka is working on getting the rockchip video decoder mailined?
<marcodiego> sorry, Jan 31, not Jan 3

<DuClare> mmind00: rk3288 timer at 0xff810000 cannot be used outside of secure mode
<DuClare> mmind00: I'm not sure if it's a hardwired fact or just a byproduct of how rockchip configured their TEE or something..
<DuClare> mmind00: I had to comment out this whole block to boot at all: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/tree/arch/arm/mach-rockchip/rockchip.c#n36
<DuClare> I also changed the timer in dts to 0xff6b0000 with interrupts = <GIC_SPI 66 IRQ_TYPE_LEVEL_HIGH>;
<DuClare> U-boot requires a similar change
<DuClare> Of course that timer init is too early to get any serial output.. what a nightmare to diagnose
<DuClare> (I don't think any of those 36 patches got committed..)

<DuClare> mmind00: So another thing that they do is change the reg of dmac_bus_s to match the nonsecure one.. does that look a little sketchy? Describing two pieces of hardware with overlapping regs?
<DuClare> Oh I see, nothing uses dmac_bus_ns
<DuClare> And it's disabled
<DuClare> But anyway this is another thing without which there's no booting

<mmind00> DuClare: Hi ... on my way to Fosdem right now, so I've only skimmed through your messages right now
<mmind00> DuClare: having both dmacs described is ok, as long as there is only one enabled of course ... you shouldn't see a difference in smp support ... just that Rockchip moves to psci (smp-enable done in "firmware" aka optee in your case .. vs. smp done in-kernel like we do for armv7 right now)
<mmind00> DuClare: obviously the main issue is backwards compatibility with old devicetrees - aka keeping boards using the in-kernel method working
<mmind00> DuClare: in theory in mainline kernel the enable-method should stay ... same with old dmac + timer ... and uboot should modify the loaded devicetree (modifying enable-method + changing status of timers + dmacs) once it sees that optee (or atf) got loaded
<mmind00> DuClare: simply because "update the loader of your old device" would be very bad, as all these tv-boxes and whatever may not even run uboot ... same for the coreboot-based Veyron chromebooks

<DuClare> Sometimes I feel like I should go to these events but it's not like I ever have anything to talk about.. I'd be the guy in the corner nobody notices :P
<DuClare> A day in the ada devroom could be fun though
<maz> DuClare: that'd be the occasion to meet people, and get out of your corner!
<DuClare> It doesn't work that way
<maz> DuClare: you'd be surprised.

<mmind00> stikonas: dts-patch? I checked my inbox and also the linux-rockchip list now, where did you sent it to? [and what did you send :-) ]
<stikonas> mmind00: oh, maybe I sent to to the wrong list. I sent it to linux-arm-kernel
<mmind00> stikonas: please use scripts/get_maintainer.pl to determine list of patch recipients
<stikonas> mmind00: oh ok. Well, it was my first patch...
<stikonas> (to kernel, obviously not in general)
<stikonas> so I should resend it?
<mmind00> stikonas: no problem at all :-) ... and yes please ... while at it, please also add a commit message
<mmind00> while it is pretty obvisous what it does it always preferred that the commit message does say something :-)
<mmind00> stikonas: in this case something like "Enable the gpu node and add the supplying regulator"
<stikonas> ok, might need to wait till Sunday
<mmind00> stikonas: I'm in Brussels for Fosdem right now, so I probably wouldn't apply it before then anyway
<mmind00> stikonas: just a small additional hint for get_maintainer.pl ... you want entries labeled "maintainer", which would be me ... and mailing lists ... in general it is not necessary to include entries labeled "committer" or so
<stikonas> ok
