<nomis> robmur01: is your USB-3 port just not functional? Or do you have at least usb2 speeds?
<robmur01> nomis: on 3328 the DWC3 controller isn't enabled at all upstream (no DTSI node nor driver match)
<robmur01> there's a patch floating around that was never merged...
<nomis> robmur01: so your Port just does nothing? I am asking because it might be possible that you can drive the usb-3 port in ehci or ohci mode to at least make use of the port...
<nomis> or is the usb3 port not populated on your box?
<robmur01> nope - XHCI doesn't have the multiple-controller mess, it's all or nothing
<robmur01> my box does expose USB3, and that patch does bring it to life
<robmur01> but as I mentioned it's a bit flaky and hotplug doesn't work
<robmur01> (well, strictly hotplug does work, once. It's hot-unplug that then kills it)
<nomis> meh.
<robmur01> if you have a single device or hub that always stays plugged in, it's fairly usable :)
<nomis> robmur01: my OTG port does not work as well. Not sure what is going on there.
<robmur01> if it's the usual dodgy OTG-through-type-A-connector, you might need to force "dr-mode"to either host or device (as desired) in the DT to make it behave
<nomis> ah, good point.
<robmur01> the "try to guess role based on whether VBUS seems to be supplied externally" wiring doesn't generally work too well, especially with upstream drivers

<nomis> robmur01: thanks, dr_mode = "host" helped.

<sphalerite> robmur01: the newer ATF didn't help, unfortunately :(
<sphalerite> though I'm only 90% sure I'm actually using it — is there a way to tell? x)
<robmur01> sphalerite: it's been a while since I last had serial hooked up, but I'm pretty sure BL31 should spit out version details
<robmur01> git.trustedfirmware.org/TF-A/trusted-firmware-a.git/tree/bl31/bl31_main.c#n98

<sphalerite> robmur01: huh, the first thing I get is the u-boot TPL version string :/
<sphalerite> oh wait, maybe it's output at a different baud rate?
<sphalerite> is there a good way to deal with that? because as soon as U-boot is involved it's running at 1500000 baud
* robmur01 juggles a second laptop onto the desk to hook up serial...
<robmur01> no, you're right, no message on RK3399 - I'm clearly getting mixed up with my Juno
<robmur01> presumably with some fiddling in the rockchip platform code one can point ATF output to the appropriate UART, but I've never tried
<robmur01> maybe "strings" on u-boot.itb? :P

<sphalerite> robmur01: hm, not even strings on bl31.elf contains an obvious (to me) version string
<robmur01> sphalerite: FWIW, this is the sort of thing that it would be:
<robmur01> NOTICE: BL31: v1.5(release):v1.5-428-g1a84dd1856ca
<robmur01> NOTICE: BL31: Built : 15:36:35, Jul 5 2018
<robmur01> dunno if the strings get optimised out completely depending on the output config
return0e has joined #linux-rockchip
<sphalerite> robmur01: hmmm, I have a build date in there
<sphalerite> oh no there it is! v2.3
<sphalerite> Now I guess I should check if the commit is in the release x)
