<stephenp> what is the best forum to investigate and learn more about this ...as it seems the cs102 is using the a10s which is incompatable with the existing binary distributions for the original mk802 [13:11] <stephenp> Thanks

<oliv3r> stephenp what exactly is your question?
<hramrach> hello :)
<hramrach> I wonder what I wanted to ask
<hramrach> any idea who might know something about f1e200?
<hramrach> like where to find datasheets
<oliv3r> not I sorry
<hramrach> can it like boot off SD or something?
<oliv3r> most likly; but nobody knows
<dolapevich> hello..
<dolapevich> I am trying to compile a 3.0.62 kernel for an A10 media pc
<dolapevich> I got the kernel and modules
<mnemoc> hramrach: play the customer role and mail eva
<dolapevich> I do boots but senconds after booting it starts to giv core dumps
<dolapevich> and finaly get´s unresponsive
<dolapevich> checking dmesg logs against the kernel that is now working it looks the first difference I see
<dolapevich> is related to
<dolapevich> a axp_mfd chip..
<dolapevich> my kernel doesn´t mention
<dolapevich> axp_mfd 0-0034: AXP (CHIP ID: 0x21) detected
<dolapevich> when booting.
<dolapevich> So it looks like there is a missing option
<dolapevich> but can´t find it.

<mnemoc> first try disabling the pmu in your script.bin
<dolapevich> ok.
<dolapevich> FYI The script.bin is the same between both kernels
<dolapevich> shouldn´t be that way?
<mnemoc> the script file is a datastructure describing your board
<dolapevich> yes
<dolapevich> this is my fex http://sebirrin.com.ar/script.fex
<dolapevich> so you are saying that I remove pmu_para from it?
<mnemoc> pmu_used = 0
<mnemoc> that will block the axp drivers from loading
<mnemoc> assuming it is an axp related problem
<dolapevich> and do I want to block them from loading?
<dolapevich> what I see is the opposite.
<dolapevich> Kernel that do works
<dolapevich> enables axp
<dolapevich> mine does not.
<oliv3r> n01: have you pushed your newest revision to bitbucket yet?
<n01> oliv3r: not yet ... I need to clean up the working version
<n01> yesterday I was too tired
<oliv3r> n01: i'm just curious what you got is all :)
<mnemoc> dolapevich: nand or mmc?
<dolapevich> it is booting from SD, if that is the question :)
<n01> :D I changed something actually, I'll show you as soon as I get home after $work$
anunnaki has quit [Ping timeout: 245 seconds]
<dolapevich> I think I will start from a known to work config and remove and add the options I need.
<dolapevich> jejej, got it, I didn´t include axp on my kernel :P
<dolapevich> let´s see if that is the issue behind inestability.
<dolapevich> Yesss... it do works now :D
orly_owl has quit [Quit: Lost terminal]
<dolapevich> it DOES work, sorry, speaking spanish here :P
<theOzzieRat> I got my a10s device to boot linaro from SD today :)
<dolapevich> Nice!
<dolapevich> Btw, I am planning to move debian to the nand.
<dolapevich> But I am concerned that in the future I might want android again.
<dolapevich> Is it possible to flash it back?
<dolapevich> I am planning to dd it´s nand to a file for backup.
<dolapevich> Would that make the trick?
<shineworld> dolapevich, of course
<dolapevich> will try then.
<shineworld> in cubie I'm sure, for other hardware depends if you can enter in FEL mode
<dolapevich> FEL?
<dolapevich> the weird thing is that nand[a..k] devices
<dolapevich> don´t have a master nand device
<dolapevich> I mean
<dolapevich> I was expecting an /dev/nand to dd with it´s partition
<shineworld> FEL is the A10 chip mode in which you can write nand device using the LiveSuit tool
<dolapevich> assuming /dev/nanda was a partition on it.
<shineworld> but I never used with devices different than cubieboard
<dolapevich> I didn´t know that.
<dolapevich> Let´s google ...
<dolapevich> mmmm I don´t see a button on this device...
<shineworld> what is your device ?
<dolapevich> no brand, A10 media pc...
<dolapevich> let me show you an image
<theOzzieRat> there may just be testpoints for the FEL button
<dolapevich> here is it
<dolapevich> I think so, I will need to find them
<dolapevich> this might be a better pic
<dolapevich> there is k9 and k10 to the right...
<dolapevich> non populated buttons..
<shineworld> i guess could be for a FEL input
<dolapevich> they go to the axp20 chip
<theOzzieRat> my guess would be K9
<shineworld> I poor words A10 (I guess also A10s) have a boot rom which manages the FEL mode. When you boot in FEL mode you can download a LiveSuit img file to nand and restore it's contents
<shineworld> to download it there is a linux/windows programm called LiveSuit
<shineworld> I've used it three or four times
<shineworld> but I prefer to boot from SD
<dolapevich> Got instructions here :) http://linux-sunxi.org/FEL/USBBoot
<dolapevich> Now the question remains,
<dolapevich> where do I get the original android images for this device.
<dolapevich> Asuming I can boot to FEL to flash them, I need to find the images, and in supported format.
<shineworld> usually any image should go fine but you have to change the script.bin stored in nanda
<shineworld> and use a script.bin compatible with your board
<dolapevich> nice. I got that script.bin and I am using it with debian now..
hipboi has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<dolapevich> So that shouldn´t be an issue.
<shineworld> just script.bin configure some hardware aspects
<shineworld> the best way is to change script.bin contents before to put the image in nand
<shineworld> to avoid bad things
<dolapevich> I am not sure to understand that. Why would I want to change script.bin ?
<dolapevich> when you say change, you mean modify contents?
<shineworld> If the image is for your board none problems
<shineworld> if you use image from another board with some hardware diff you have to change script.bin to meets your specs
<dolapevich> Oh, yes.
<dolapevich> agreed.
<shineworld> I've used images for mk802 in cubie only changing script.bin
<dolapevich> nice...
<shineworld> lunch time.... ;)
<shineworld> cya
<dolapevich> where can I download those images?
<dolapevich> Oh, ok.
<dolapevich> I will be here :)
<dolapevich> Thanks!
<eebrah> dolapevich have you tried miniand?
<dolapevich> miniand?
<eebrah> miniand.com
<dolapevich> I don´t have a clue what that is :P
<dolapevich> oh, let´s see..
<eebrah> they have a forum where they discuss android miniPCs
<dolapevich> great!
<eebrah> and they have working linux images for MK802 and MK802ii
<dolapevich> Checking there..
<dolapevich> mmmm cubieboard has Sata!
<dolapevich> I am using a USB cable now..
<dolapevich> but it doesn´t have toslink connector :-S
<dolapevich> Sorry, this is new for me, I just read about the cobieboard :)
<eebrah> dolapevich no problem
<eebrah> we were all new once .... and the cubieboard is not a very well known product
<eebrah> but they do very well for such small scale
<eebrah> also dolapevich, have you tried the #cubieboard channel?
<dolapevich> No, not yet, I mean, I am amazed to find this board and good documentation :)
<dolapevich> I am reading now..
<dolapevich> and sad enough, I will need to play my gray man in the enterprise in about 15 minutes :P
<dolapevich> I have to leave now, but will sure come back soon :)
<dolapevich> Thanks for your help!
<eebrah> shure
<eebrah> *sure
<dolapevich> good bye !

<n01> mnemoc: why for reboot we are using WDT and not PMU?
<mnemoc> no idea
<n01> uhm ... maybe because PMU is external to the core?
<mnemoc> probably because you don't always have a pmu

<^dst> hi is custom kernel possible on A31 sun6i? anyone got SDK?
<mnemoc> ^dst: see the import/lichee-3.3/a31-dev branch in amery's github
<mnemoc> the goal is to "merge" a20/a31 support into sunxi-3.4 .... but no dev has hardware for it yet
<^dst> oh i saw it. is it working? its some 1.x version and all are talking about sdk2.0
<^dst> i see. no dev has hardware for it. the A31 is a new CPU.
<mnemoc> newer sdk doesn't imply newer kernel
<mnemoc> and these -dev branches have commits up to march 2013
<mnemoc> if you get an uart, you are welcomed to try it and help integrating it in sunxi-3.4
<^dst> if my tablet will have uart i sure will have a look at it.
<^dst> anyway i may try to set up some booting image. i got linux and cm10 custom compiled working for my resistive A10 tablet so i hope there will be even more fun on thodse A31 devices
<^dst> thanks for figuring out the status of amerys github

<ZaEarl> mnemoc, does the a31-dev branch compile?
<mnemoc> ZaEarl: don't know
<mnemoc> haven't tried it
<ZaEarl> is that the best branch to start on?
<mnemoc> but as it's a dev branch from a company without good development practices it might be a good idea to reset it to the last promising-looking tag
<mnemoc> not sure if "best" is the right word.... it's all we have
<mnemoc> so it's the best and the worst at the same time
<ZaEarl> and it sounds like I'll be the first to try it
