<libv> wens: i meant that if intel is now selling mali-m400/m450/t760, it might be that intel furthers my lima work, which would then just be yet another case of intel doing something which was pioneered by the one guy who is never allowed to work for them (while they hire almost everyone else under the sun)
<libv> the fact that they went to mali means that their own product still is not up to scratch
<wens> i don't doubt the latter statement. it's just not their area of expertise
<wens> but never allowed to work for them? wow
<RSpliet> libv: I doubt Intel is going to care any more about OSS mali drivers as they care about the PowerVR IP they used in the past
<RSpliet> that's mostly gut feeling...

<libv> wens: in 2005, i got shot down on my modesetting ideas, in 2006 the shooter started working for intel and invented RandR1.2
<libv> wens: why do you think i am such a bitter and cynical man?
<wens> libv: right, you talked about this before
<libv> RSpliet: given that it is 2.5 months after this became public, you are right
<libv> wens: dirk hoendel almost got me hired in 2011, after elop killed nokia and my whole team ran off to intel
<libv> but even he couldn't push that through

<rgwan> It 's my set top box
<rgwan> You can test it speed~
<focus> libv: have you seen this http://papilio.cc/ - seems like fpga hardware equivalent of Arduino and opportunity to make own graphics controllers :)
<libv> focus: there was opengraphics several years ago
<libv> they produced pci-e board with a big fast fpga and a few dvi-i connectors
<focus> libv: hmmm... know that one well - but expensive / something made it fail in market place?
<libv> but there was no real backing from anyone but enthusiasts, and after a few years it pretty much went dead
philippe_fouquet has joined #linux-sunxi
<libv> iirc, 2008/2009
<libv> yes, like 800EUR
<wens> rgwan: wow... you actually modded a nand only box to use emmc...
<focus> I was thinking open sourced graphics controller on a wishbone and then let some CN SoC makers incorporate into their SoC
<focus> no licensing fees and NDAs for them = cheaper to produce
Black_Horseman has quit [Ping timeout: 252 seconds]
<libv> focus: i do not buy into such logic anymore, but do not let that stop you
<focus> libv: hmm... don't give up libv :) I'm keen to get into fpga and make it as open sourced as possible with a proper graphics controller - i believe its only around 30k now to make first chip for a fabless co.

<NiteHawk> i take that you switched from hansg's tree to mainline v4.1? that would have been my next suggestion :P

<Dodger78> yes i did
<Dodger78> :-) recognized that 4.1 was released . also updated from wheezy to jessie but didnt help

<NiteHawk> have you tried using the vanilla sunxi-defconfig and/or the default .dtb file for cubietruck? they should provide cpufreq "out-of-the-box"
<Dodger78> ok will recompile , got things like kvm and some stack protection on .... also my kernel config came a longer way from older kernels
<Dodger78> make sunxi-defconfig is a20 compatible ?
<NiteHawk> yes, it's the default config for all sunxi-based boards. you could also try multi_v7_defconfig
<Dodger78> do you got a zImage which is working that i could kexec ?
<mripard> Dodger78: what board are you using ?
<Dodger78> cubietruck
<mripard> hmmmm
<Dodger78> could try kernelci.org
<mripard> it should definitely work on the cubietruck
<mripard> you've used sunxi_defconfig?
<Dodger78> ok know that site ... brb
<NiteHawk> maybe there's some unnoticed quirk in your kernel config or .dtb, that prevents cpufreq from working - you should try with a 'clean' default configuration. i can also provide you with a v4.1 zImage compiled on my BPi, but i somehow don't see the point
<NiteHawk> igor has 4.1 images for bpi and lime, too: http://mirror.igorpecovnik.com/kernel/ - they should work for you if you provide a correct .dtb

<Dodger78_> :-( kernelci kernel can do cpufreqd
<Dodger78_> its my kernel
<NiteHawk> then you're doing it work :D
<NiteHawk> errr... wrong even
<Dodger78_> already cleaned my config .. will start from scratch
<skoopy> which branch/repository should i use to compile cubietruck kernel that supports android?
<skoopy> thought about using mripard nand-experiments sunxi branch. but i'm not sure I know what i'm doin
<mripard> skoopy: then don't use that branch
bobryan has joined #linux-sunxi
<mripard> and don't use mainline if you want to use android
<mripard> unless you want android without a screen
<mripard> which is not very useful :)

<libv> rgwan: get me a url or email it to me, and i will put it in our dl.linux-sunxi.org tomorrow
<rgwan> I got it from sinlinx
<libv> rgwan: also, i would not be alone to want to see a nice wiki page about how you exchanged your nand to the emmc, what steps you took and what tools you used
<rgwan> it has confidential mark
<rgwan> oh...you can see my blog
<libv> rgwan: is the url on the mele i7 page?
<rgwan> This is my blog
<rgwan> In fact.If you know the eMMC pinout
<rgwan> to change nand to emmc is just hand work
<libv> still, nobody has gone this far with this hw
<libv> it would be nice to have a nice page which would give people the confidence to go and try
<rgwan> At first. I dont sure will I success
<rgwan> But when I measuring the voltage on pin28
<rgwan> I got 3.3V
<rgwan> I measure SDCMD and SDCLK. also got 3.3V
<rgwan> So I think it can replace to eMMC
<libv> very well done :)
<rgwan> You can see my article for detail....But I wrote it using Chinese
<rgwan> sorry
<libv> i will see whether i get bored enough next week to recreate that nand pin-out picture so that it can sit on our wiki
<libv> it can be translated
<rgwan> Yes
<rgwan> Now my blog is running on the MOD Mele i7
<libv> and since the rest of the pictures were made by you, i think that you agree to distribute them as CC?
<rgwan> I agree
<libv> then we should work on making an english translation for our wiki, and link to your blog from there
<rgwan> Yeah
<rgwan> I can do it myself
<libv> even better :)
<libv> i'll keep an eye out for grammar and other small improvements then :)
<libv> rgwan: thanks :)
<rgwan> Oh...What you think of my blog ˊs speed
<rgwan> My network is 8M china telecom
<libv> that's on the i7?
<rgwan> Is it slow on outside world?
<rgwan> Yes
<rgwan> It is a LNMP server on the i7
<rgwan> I change my server from A20 hummingbird to i7
<rgwan> and Yesterday I finished it
<rgwan> So I posted somethinv
<rgwan> something
khuey is now known as khuey|away
<rgwan> and even the i7 is using wireless for network connection
<rgwan> the internal rtl8188 works well :)
