ssvb, what i did is i tried to boot the old 3.4 fork kernel (linux-sunxi) using the latest mainline u-boot, so i activated CONFIG_OLD_SUNXI_KERNEL_COMPAT=y . What i noticed is that the lcd was working already in the u-boot and after in the kernel.
<gzamboni>
so i tryed with the mainline kernel with CONFIG_OLD_SUNXI_KERNEL_COMPAT=y and it worked
<ssvb>
gzamboni: are you sure that you tested just the difference between having and not having CONFIG_OLD_SUNXI_KERNEL_COMPAT=y ? I mean, without any other config changes?
<gzamboni>
i will do it now, to be sure
<gzamboni>
one sec, i will recompile u-boot without it

but i am sure i didnt work with exact the same configs without CONFIG_OLD_SUNXI_KERNEL_COMPAT

gzamboni: what about the CONFIG_VIDEO_LCD_DCLK_PHASE=1 option?
<gzamboni>
lets see, im recompiling without it
<ssvb>
ok, thanks
<gzamboni>
it worked, why the hell it didnt work yesterday
<gzamboni>
do you think there could be an initiliatisation code present on the 3.4 and not in the mainline ?
<ssvb>
I think that you probably made some subtle mistake tweaking configs
<gzamboni>
what i know, is that after booting up with the 3.4 linux-sunxi it got the lcd working
<gzamboni>
ssvb maybe, i thank you :)
<gzamboni>
sorry about the warn
<ssvb>
no problem
<gzamboni>
now i have to try out the touchscreen :°
<gzamboni>

<sunxi_fan>
hello, i have a question about dual framebuffers setup on mainline (..or later) :-)
<sunxi_fan>
i have more or less running the same basic setup of a simplefb starting on uboot 15.04 (i see the "penguin"..) and then on mainline taking over the simplefb config so there's a nice running /dev/fb0 with a 800x480 LCD rendering..
<sunxi_fan>
now i'f i'd need to have a second /dev/fb1 getting out of the HDMI, which would be the better route to achieve this kind of set up?
<sunxi_fan>
i don't need any acceleration, just a setup of the video pipeline, i suppose, and the config (don't need neither the EDID exchange, if this complicates the patch) of a 1920x1080 screen out of a properly configured memory buffer..

The instructions and wiki pages I read state a bit different. But of course, there are a lot of outdated forum threads and such
<mripard>
what instructions and wiki pages are you reading ?
<plaes>
some companies have even copy-pasted entire sections to their wikies (but never bothered to keep them up-to-date)
<FR^2>
Then where are links of the sunxi wiki to sunxi pages, current builds, current images, current instructions. maybe the way I'm searching for it is simply wrong :)
<mripard>
FR^2: what's wrong our outdated in that page ?
<meltunali>
hi, i cannot build a Livesiut image for cubietruck without using sdcard, i tried by sunxi-bsp or livesuit-image-creator. i think it was possible before, but why linux-sdk-tools are changed?
<meltunali>
is it unsuggested for cubietruck or a20?
<FR^2>
mripard: Maybe I should give it another try this evening, collect my questions and then continue the discussion.
