<hannes>
zmijunkie: to me it looks like your OCaml version on FreeBSD is slightly old, and the mirage version is old as well (please check with mirage --version to have 3.7.7); in case you need an OCaml (the one in ports is arcane), do 'opam switch create 4.10.0' followed by 'eval `opam env`' to get an up-to-date compiler and local environment
<zmijunkie>
ah, thanx again - will try later this evening
<zmijunkie>
.opam/default/bin/mirage --version
<zmijunkie>
v3.6.0
<zmijunkie>
on my mac this was: 3.7.7
<hannes>
and what is your ocaml --version?
<zmijunkie>
pkg info | grep ocaml
<zmijunkie>
ocaml-opam-2.0.7 Source-based package manager for OCaml
<zmijunkie>
ocaml-4.05.0_1 Objective Caml compiler and programming environment
<zmijunkie>
i upgradd your ocaml-opam-2.0.6 port to ocaml-opam-2.0.7 as far as I remember (on my system)
<hannes>
yes, the 4.05.0 is a bit too old (there are two ocaml releases each year, and we try to support at least the last two releases with mirage)
<hannes>
so, from a library development perspective / mirage perspective, dropping old ocaml versions is always good (less code, more features). from a packaging perspective, FreeBSD still ships with 4.05.0 because some ports require such an old version (I guess the way forward is to have ocaml405, ocaml410, ... ports)
<zmijunkie>
just typed "opam switch create 4.10.0" so tonight I can try this out ...
