<ddfreyne> bobthecow: I have that on my to-do list for the week
<ddfreyne> bobthecow: Also, I suppose it would be a good idea to give Rubygems push access to all nanoc-related stuff. I have some deploy/release docs that detail the process I generally use, so I’ll probably throw that somewhere more public
<ddfreyne> (I was considering doing it on the Development page actually)
<bobthecow> a project i contribute to just switched over to using CI for everything... tagging releases actually happens by pushing a git tag up to GitHub.
<bobthecow> and they have a script for kicking that off, even, which bumps the version per semver before tagging, handles all the maintenance you've always got to do.
<bobthecow> one of these days i'll get my stuff together enough to do something like that for my projects. it's really slick.
<ddfreyne> Nice.
<bobthecow> they also use conventional changelog, so their changelog is autogenerated by their commit messages.
<ddfreyne> Hmm, that’s quite interesting
<ddfreyne> bobthecow: Although I have to admit that the “conventional” is a bit odd, considering I haven’t seen this style before
<bobthecow> "conventional" meaning "by convention"
<ddfreyne> Yeah.
<bobthecow> yeah, i'm not the biggest fan of this exact style, but i like the idea of having *a* convention.
<bobthecow> i do like the BREAKING CHANGE annotation.
<bobthecow> their tool parses for that and forces a semver major version bump :)
<ddfreyne> Or you could just have the discipline to not break stuff int he first place ;)
<bobthecow> but there will always be breaking changes. major version bumps aren't a bad thing, they're just bad when they're unintentional :)
<ddfreyne> If they’re unintentional, people might not write BREAKING CHANGE in the first place.
<bobthecow> this is true.
<bobthecow> oh yeah, it fills out github releases as well.
<ddfreyne> Nice!
<ddfreyne> Yeah, the nanoc release process has too many steps.
