<Regenaxer> Not sure
<razzy95> Reread than.
<Regenaxer> He talked about PilClub versus PilCon
<Regenaxer> "what's the name of the channel?" referred to the video meeting I think
<razzy95> Yes, he than wanted name of jitsi room in irc topic, so everyone on irc knows
<razzy95> Imho.
<razzy95> I read logs I know jitsi room name.
<Regenaxer> yes, but aw- did not. He tried the wrong channel
<razzy95> I am on jitsi

<dunsel> glad to hear the first ever pil-con went well!
<dunsel> sorry i missed it. i overslept. (rick here btw)
<dunsel> how many people attended?
<Regenaxer> Hi dunsel! No problem, perhaps next time
<Regenaxer> I counted 27
<dunsel> yes Regenaxer, at the other time slot too! :)
<dunsel> oh wow! that's great!
<Regenaxer> (My app does not show the number directly I think, so I counted manually ;)
<dunsel> that's good enough! :)
<Regenaxer> yeah
<dunsel> excellent turnout!
<Regenaxer> indeed, and the performance was good technically
<dunsel> thanks to beneroth, our host?
<Regenaxer> right!
* dunsel will leave and grab the rick42 account

<bitmapper> i can't wait until i can use picolisp on macos catalina
<Regenaxer> ok :)
<rick42> bitmapper: me too!
<Regenaxer> Maybe you can try already the experimental version if pil21
<Regenaxer> Not complete at all, but *something* works ;)
<rick42> ok. I'll try later today, Regenaxer
<Regenaxer> tankfeeder is testing busily
<Regenaxer> good :)
<bitmapper> could i get a link?
<Regenaxer> software-lab.de/pil21.tgz
<bitmapper> not the git repo?
<Regenaxer> ah, yes, sure

<Regenaxer> (tankfeeder is on vacation though atm)
<rick42> has anyone tried building pil21 on windoze?
<Regenaxer> No, makes no sense due to posix requirements
<rick42> scratch that -- you can use WSL2 on win10 (2004) just fine and the problem is reduced to just another linux build
<Regenaxer> Yeah, forgot!
<rick42> me too! :D
<Regenaxer> :)
<Regenaxer> I have no such machine near me
<rick42> hehehe
<Regenaxer> but would be interesting to test
<rick42> i'm cursed with it because work/employer :)
<Regenaxer> ok, yes
<Regenaxer> My customers have it, but they cannot install anything usually
<rick42> don't they just run your software from their browsers (and you run it on your servers)?
<rick42> that sounds like a good setup
<Regenaxer> exactly
<Regenaxer> So I don't care
<rick42> :)

<rick42> $ ./pil lib/test.l -bye +
<rick42> OK
<rick42> on WSL2
<Regenaxer> Cool!
<rick42> picoLisp-20.7.3
<rick42> pil64
<Regenaxer> ok
<Regenaxer> So same with pil21
<rick42> haven't tried that yet
<Regenaxer> np
<rick42> should i use the tarball?
<Regenaxer> The repo is the same
<rick42> or mike's repo?
<rick42> ok
<Regenaxer> I find tarballs the easiest
<Regenaxer> not easiest, but the metadata remain
<rick42> ok
<Regenaxer> check out from repo destroys them
<bitmapper> picolisp reminds me of standard lisp
<Regenaxer> Do you mean Portable Standard Lisp from the Rand Corporation?
<Regenaxer> This had indeed quite some influence
<Regenaxer> I ported PSL to 68000 back then
<bitmapper> yeah
<bitmapper> PSL is still around and still being worked on as part of the REDUCE algebra system
<Regenaxer> Yes, REDUCE!
<Regenaxer> You are the first one I meet recently who knows these
<bitmapper> i actually found a little implementation of PSL for javascript recently
<bitmapper> it even has a web repl
<Regenaxer> cool
<bitmapper> it's dead though :(
<Regenaxer> seems so
orivej has quit [Ping timeout: 246 seconds]
<Regenaxer> I would say the 3 roots of early pil were MacLisp, PSL and Siemens Interlisp
orivej has joined #picolisp
<bitmapper> that would make sense
<bitmapper> speaking of interlisp, that's making a comeback too
<Regenaxer> really?
<Regenaxer> good to hear
<rick42> it `make`d with no issues (had to `sudo apt install clang llvm` first)
<rick42> so how to run the tests?
<Regenaxer> Hmm, I haven't done it too. Just selected cases he reported to me
<Regenaxer> Just play around a little perhaps
<rick42> ok
<Regenaxer> Not critical
<Regenaxer> Important is that it builds and starts
<Regenaxer> The rest is detail work
<rick42> all right! this is fantastic, Regenaxer! thanks!
<Regenaxer> :)
<Regenaxer> Good to know that it works thus far
<Regenaxer> This was WSL, right?
<Regenaxer> How about MacOS?
<rick42> that will take me longer to setup, but I will try that too.
<Regenaxer> No hurry
orivej has quit [Ping timeout: 264 seconds]
<bitmapper> hmm, pil21 won't build on macos for me
<Regenaxer> What happens?
<bitmapper> just a sec
<rick42> oh sorry I missed that ... yes that build of pil21 was with WSL2 (running the Ubuntu-20.04 image)
<Regenaxer> bitmapper, check for install make clang llvm libffi libreadline-dev pkg-config
<bitmapper> yeah i already have those
<Regenaxer> or equivalent on MacOS
<Regenaxer> ok
<rick42> bitmapper: what are you using? brew?
<bitmapper> yeah
<bitmapper> it's complaining about libreadline headers, due to them not being in /usr/local/include
<Regenaxer> hmm
<rick42> need a -devel package?
orivej has joined #picolisp
<bitmapper> there is no devel packages with brew
<rick42> ah
<bitmapper> all packages come with the devel stuff
<bitmapper> it's including the system readline headers
DKordic has quit [Quit: bye]
<bitmapper> was an easy fix
<rick42> cool!
<Regenaxer> You just needed to fix the <include>s?
<bitmapper> yeah
<bitmapper> and the libs
<bitmapper> macos comes with a slightly older readline
<Regenaxer> ok I think
<bitmapper> hmm, not quite
<bitmapper> some undefined symbols at link time
<Regenaxer> :(
<bitmapper> oh
<bitmapper> picolisp builds
orivej has quit [Ping timeout: 246 seconds]
<bitmapper> ext.so doesn't
orivej has joined #picolisp
<Regenaxer> I see
<Regenaxer> Just the linker options?
<bitmapper> no, it complains about stuff like _SymTab being undefined
<Regenaxer> Could still be a linker (e.g. export) option
<Regenaxer> Symtab is in the main program
<Regenaxer> So ext does not see it
<bitmapper> hmm
<Regenaxer> Or happens the error before linkage?
<Regenaxer> 'llc' call?
<bitmapper> no i think i know what the issue is, just a sec
