fijal: simpson: I think the backstory here is that Instagram did some experiments with PyPy -- who knows how carefully -- and for some reason decided it wasn't working, so they needed to do their own thing... and then Carl is the guy hired to do their own thing. So his perspective is just like "hey, I like implementing VMs, someone's paying me to implement a VM, cool"

Yeah I looked at that, I don't think there is any way to do what I want really. The C code has to just be a single source file (possibly using the stdlib)
