that seems to split only on directory names, how could we split test_*.py into two groups when in the same directory?

no, the logic is that if a dir is in DIRS_SPLIT, then all test_*.py are put in a single group

lazka (for the logs): PyType_Ready() crashing if you call it on a subtype first: I can't reproduce that. I guess it depends on various factors. Can you issue a bug report with a reproducer? Thanks!

the problem I faced is how to split cpyext/test/test*.py into two groups, AFAICT it already was run as a single group, but that single group timed out

indeed, if I run the own py3.5 tests locally it runs for close to an hour

mattip: I'm saying that, say, for translator/c/test/test*.py, then they are each run in their own group, and that can run in parallel and the timeout is per-file
