cfbolz changed the topic of #pypy to: PyPy, the flexible snake (IRC logs: https://quodlibet.duckdns.org/irc/pypy/latest.log.html#irc-end ) | use cffi for calling C | if a pep adds a mere 25-30 [C-API] functions or so, it's a drop in the ocean (cough) - Armin

random comment about the GTK3 open/save dialogs and the behaviour of typing a few letters there:
<arigato>
GTK3 devs seem to think the current behavior is great, while a large subfraction of the community (including me) think it's worse than useless
<arigato>
the point of me commenting on it here is that I'd like to point this out:
<arigato>
today I found out by chance that if you type "." followed by "backspace", the dialogs are in a different mode in which it actually works
<arigato>
e.g. if I'm in my home folder and want to enter "python", typing "py" or even "python" doesn't work because it will select a random file anywhere in subdirectories with "python" in the name
<arigato>
but you can type "./py" or ".<backspace>py"

odd; building PyPy on macOS 10.14 fails with an “abort trap”…
