cfbolz changed the topic of #pypy to: PyPy, the flexible snake (IRC logs: https://quodlibet.duckdns.org/irc/pypy/latest.log.html#irc-end ) | use cffi for calling C | if a pep adds a mere 25-30 [C-API] functions or so, it's a drop in the ocean (cough) - Armin

<Dejan> chess player?
<flok> Dejan: i wrote a couple of chess programs
<Dejan> I've just successfully installed python-chess with PyPy e38019311463
<flok> hmmm. I'm on ubuntu let me check if it has updates for pypy
<flok> nope.
<flok> ubuntu has 7.1.1+dfsg-1
<Dejan> That is quite old
<Dejan> I suggest you grab the tarball from the website
<Dejan> the one I have is one of the nightly builds :)
<Dejan> let me check the latest stable...
<flok> that won't play nicely with the packagemanagement unfortunately
<Dejan> yep
<Dejan> works with latest stable PyPy 7.3.1 (3.6.9)
<Dejan> I do not expect Ubuntu to ever be up-to-date with PyPy
<Dejan> same for Fedora (which I use)
<Dejan> Fedora 30 has pypy3 7.0.0 ...

<ronan> flok: there is a PPA for pypy, it's usually up to date
<flok> good idea! thanks

<adisbladis> Hey, I'm trying to build pypy with --make-jobs=64 but only one core is pinned at 100% cpu. Any idea what's going on with this?
<simpson> adisbladis: Part of the build is very serial.
<arigato> only the final part (calling gcc) is parallelized
<adisbladis> That would explain it :/
<adisbladis> I was very confused when the flag seemingly had no effect
<adisbladis> Thanks
