<eintopf> wpwrak: I had such floppy disk always
<eintopf> wpwrak: "win98 startdiskette"
<eintopf> the important one with cd rom support
<eintopf> to start win98 setup from there
<wpwrak> eintopf: did you also put it on the fridge, with a magnet ? ;-)
<eintopf> wah :o
<eintopf> now I understand the joke
<wpwrak> ;-)
<eintopf> I placed it on the cupboard because earth magnetic field
<eintopf> mhhh
<eintopf> I think profs need to ask students in some lecture "what's wrong on this picture"
<eintopf> in some hardware basic lectures
<eintopf> that would be funny

<DocScrutinizer05> a hoax
<DocScrutinizer05> quote: it is no different if they discover LD_PRELOAD and call it 0-day hole
<kyak> it is a bit different. Usually antiviruses and other critical software try to counter-measure dll injections. It is not supposed to be as simple as creating a registry key
<DocScrutinizer05> well, whatever, it for sure is not zeroday vulnerability, not to argue about the https://www.buerger-cert.de/archive?type=widtechnicalwarning&nr=TW-T17-0032 classification "risk: HIGH"
<DocScrutinizer05> LOL

<mth> DocScrutinizer05: "ring binder"
<mth> we used to punch holes in floppies to make DD floppies into HD
<mth> although the result wasn't very reliable
<mth> apparently the magnetic layer was different between the two
<mth> and the converted floppies developed I/O errors more quickly
<mth> or maybe that's a hoax too and I just had bad luck with the few I used
<wpwrak> a floppy that doesn't develop I/O errors is like an eagle that never learns to fly ;-)
<mth> yes, but usually it's not within a few weeks of light use
