[Zarthus, irc.freenode.net] shevy: yeah, it's got a terminal. But if you're editing on windows, you might as well stab yourself in the knee
<zzak>
[Zarthus, irc.freenode.net] so I often just use the git bash
<zzak>
[Zarthus, irc.freenode.net] I am hopeless without `ls' :<
<zzak>
[Zarthus, irc.freenode.net] it's the first command I use when I boot up my terminal (well, aside from cd), and the last command I use before shutting down!
wycats_ is now known as wycats
<zzak>
[Adædra, irc.freenode.net] Powershell provides it
tarui has joined #ruby-core
<zzak>
[Zarthus, irc.freenode.net] I think it doesn't work on powershell terminals, i've not tried personally
<zzak>
[Zarthus, irc.freenode.net] so long as I can use git commands i'll be satisfies

[62.176.232.140 - http://webchat.freenode.net, irc.freenode.net] One of my projects has both mechanize and savon as a dependency because it pulls in both ntlm-http and rubyntlm, creating bad blood when it comes to version checks.
<zzak>
[62.176.232.140 - http://webchat.freenode.net, irc.freenode.net] Err. Well *because* of that dependency it requires the latter 2 packages.
<zzak>
[62.176.232.140 - http://webchat.freenode.net, irc.freenode.net] Should I go about and shoot someone to relieve my stress?
<zzak>
[62.176.232.140 - http://webchat.freenode.net, irc.freenode.net] jhass: Okay great, while that is far from being pretty that works for me.
<zzak>
[David Workman, irc.freenode.net] norc: within a gem, a Gemfile is generally only useful for things like setting a git source for a dependency listed in the gemspec so you can do things like prepare support for unreleased gems prior to a full rubygems release
<zzak>
[David Workman, irc.freenode.net] norc: basically, if you have a dependency, list it in the gemspec... if you have a place to get the dependency from, also list it in the Gemfile
<zzak>
[Jonne Haß, irc.freenode.net] I also see benefit in having reproducable (CI) builds, hence I favor checking in the .lock for my gems too
