Hey guys, got a question about eigenclass, is there a link directly from an instance to a class, or is it always rerouted through the eigenclass?

Hello25 is gone, but if they check the logs, there's a class pointer from an instance to its class, and another class pointer from a class to its singleton class (eigenclass).

The "instance" of the singleton class, e.g., if m = Module.method( :constants ), then the "attached" object of m.owner is Module.

For my purposes, I want to find the class which will be the receiver given a Method object for one of its singleton methods.
<ged>
It's reachable from C by getting the ivar named "__attached__", but you can access such ivars from Ruby.

I'm in the midst of making a platform that's going to have articles on it. I'm using rails 5, and active admin to manage and create the articles, and I want to be able to style the article (namely keep the article indentation) and I haven't really found a good way to do that. I found one gem: ckeditor but it's a pain to setup. I'm just wondering if there is any other way

i am having problems installing some native gems. sqlite3 fails to compile due to a missing sqlite3.h header file. do i have to install a gems-dev package or something on debian to get thise native gems to build?
<crang>
i have installed ruby's header files, but i cant figure out how to install a given gem's header files

i have had this problem while building native gems on window as well
<crang>
how does a gem distribute header files? is there a source gem or what
<havenwood>
valedithat: You can for sure use Trix from Active Admin. I have no clue whether Active Admin is integrating Action Text. I don't follow Active Admin development.

havenwood: thanks. so it just looks in the system include paths because... gcc

If my gem has a development dependency of rspec, which requires rspec-expectations, and rspec-expectations is fetched, why would rspec fail because it requires rspec-expectations?
<Joufflu>
baweaver, you asking me or you making a new question ?
<baweaver>
answering by asking
<baweaver>
`Kernel#puts` returns nil.[
<baweaver>
Blocks like count will end up counting nil
<Joufflu>
so count will count nil ok
<Joufflu>
how is that making it not count the numbers in the array divisiable by 2
<Joufflu>
nil/2 ? idk. i'm guessing at this point
<Joufflu>
nil%2**
<baweaver>
1. puts returns nil
<baweaver>
2. That means the output of the equation is now nil
<baweaver>
puts(x % 2 == 0) # => nil
<Joufflu>
so count does actually do the %2 but puts wipes it because nil ?
<baweaver>
It does do it, but the return value of that block is nil
<baweaver>
puts only outputs it to the screen and returns back nil to the program
<baweaver>
Remove the puts to see for yourself
<Joufflu>
AH ok
<Joufflu>
ok by removing puts we got rid of the nil; now it just prints nothing at all but no error either
<Joufflu>
hmm lol i think i know what it is
<Joufflu>
blocks vs methods ... i need to keep that in mind

So I'm doing some coding challenges on hackerRank and I run them on my terminal using linux with ruby 2.6 and my code works in my terminal but when I run the same code on hacker rank it saying no solutions found; anyone got experience on how I should be entering my code? I've googled around and can't seem to get a clear answer
