05:33 <zarvox> maldridge: if you really want to hack around it, you can probably get away with adjusting NODE_HEADERS in the Makefile to be /usr/include/node, but you'll need meteor to build the frontend code anyway

We ship static binaries, enough of a userspace to run node and mongo, have our own autoupdater that applies signed updates within 24 hours of release, implement our own process supervision, and self-containerize so as to keep things neatly isolated.

06:45 <zarvox> All of those things tend to be things which allow us to move quickly and release features or security patches that reach users quickly, while minimizing the amount of duplicate work we'd need to do to integrate well with distributions.
