I'm learning SBCL through slime as a first programming language, has anyone here taken that route with programming. Any advice or practical projects to work on from the foundational level would be appreciated.

Alright thanks I just downloaded that the other day before that I was looking through practical common lisp by peter seibel but was trying to find something to mix it with that was a bit more laid back.

Practical Common Lisp is generaly advised to programmers knowing other languages.

There's really two parts, learning how to program, and learning a programming language. Of course, the first time, you must learn both at the same time :-)

I kind of got that, I was looking for answers on stack overflow mere chapters into the book. I don't know why but aside from bash I just feel drawn to learn common lisp.
