fche: it seems that -r KERNEL_TREE does not work on debian sytems. it's because include/config/kernel.release contains a different version number from `uname -r`.
<agentzh>
wondering what's the best way to work around it.
<agentzh>
should we read include/generated/utsrelease.h instead?
<agentzh>
that file contains UTS_RELEASE, which should be the same thing used by `uname -r`. but i'm not sure about older kernels.
<agentzh>
i'm getting the error "ERROR: module release mismatch (4.9.0-11-amd64 vs 4.9.189)" in the staprun phase on debian 9 right now.
<agentzh>
include/config/kernel.release contains 4.9.189 while uname -r shows 4.9.0-11-amd64.
<agentzh>
debian seems to have very funny kernel version numbers. quite confusing.
<agentzh>
the kernel deb package is called linux-image-4.9.0-11-amd64_4.9.189-3+deb9u2_amd64.deb :)

fche: i'm currently introducing a SYSTEWTAP_KERNEL_VERSIOn env so that i could override the version from the outside. working fine for me now.
