<fche> agentzh, by the way
<fche> some good timely test on an internal platform/os combination indicate the benefits from y'all's print* etc. cleanups are making a difference
<fche> and
<fche> to take full advantage, we might want to spin up a stap 4.5 release RSN and switch to that

<kerneltoast> making a difference how
<kerneltoast> fche, btw i've had to use urban dictionary a lot lately thanks to you
<kerneltoast> initialisms are hard
<fche> my pleasure
<fche> making a difference = having some tracepoint/printing-intensive tests pass vs. hang

<kerneltoast> they hung before and y'all didn't fix it?
<kerneltoast> seemz odd
<fche> now now
<fche> some problems show up on oddball kernels etc.
<kerneltoast> every rhel kernel is an oddball
<kerneltoast> change my mind
<kerneltoast> so i guess we gotta resolve the backtrace printing dilemma and then you'll cut a release?
<fche> well maybe, not sure the backtrace thing is a showstopper
fdalleau_away is now known as fdalleau
fdalleau is now known as fdalleau_away
<kerneltoast> it should be a quick fix though, if we do it my hacky style

<kerneltoast> fche, idk how to go about updating docs though; apparently docs are generated from source according to agentzh?
<kerneltoast> i think it would be good to have this change before cutting a new release to maintain the current backtrace behavior
<kerneltoast> since the current stap release still chops off the last byte
<fche> tapset function man pages are generated from comments in the .stp file
<kerneltoast> ah
<kerneltoast> so if i amended my reverted patch to chop off any trailing whitespace and then updated the .stp comment, we'd be good?
<fche> if it's an .stp side comment, I'd prefer the whitespace trimming be done at the .stp side / site rather than in the runtime
<kerneltoast> idk how to do that
<kerneltoast> .stp is a foreign language
<kerneltoast> i heard it's just for AIs to auto generate
<kerneltoast> fche, could you take care of that?
<kerneltoast> since you've got the strongest opinions about this and it's a small change :}
