hey xplodwild, do you think updating s3cfb in the kernel would possibly remove all the screen tearing we see ?
<geecko>
xplodwild, it's particularly noticable with the kitkat launcher. if you swipe to the left and giggle it, you'll see tearing at the bottom right of the cards
<xplodwild>
hmm not sure
<sbrissen>
I get it on screen rotations

sbrissen, omni or cm?
<sbrissen>
cm
<Espenfjo>
I wouldnt bet too much on s3cfb
<geecko>
Espenfjo, what is the safest bet then?
<sbrissen>
xplodwild: the coloring issue i had yesterday has to do with the legacy egl commits. I wasn't using them
<geecko>
Espenfjo, also what is the exact purpose of s3cfb? managing the display, in which way?
<Espenfjo>
It manages the framebuffer/display
<Espenfjo>
hardware part of it
<Espenfjo>
Note sure what it could be. some new egl stuff somewhere perhaps
<geecko>
Espenfjo, this issue appeared a while ago. i think from android 4.2
<geecko>
Espenfjo, 4.1 was utter slow but i don't remember tearing like this
<Espenfjo>
Thats probably from something else entirely
<geecko>
Espenfjo, at least it's not from the mali drivers :P
<geecko>
Espenfjo, i'm on cm 10.2 right now, and there's no issue here
<Espenfjo>
kk

holy shit
<geecko>
i was on the wrong branch .....
<geecko>
forget everything i say, Espenfjo xplodwild
<geecko>
that was too easy ;)
<geecko>
so there's still hope ^_^
<geecko>
weird, samsung deleted s3cfb_lcd definition from a header, but it's still used at another place in update12... i fail to see how it compiles properly

xplodwild, Espenfjo, got it compiling, for real this time :)
<geecko>
Espenfjo, sbrissen, forgot to modify sysfs_notify :D
<sbrissen>
:-P
<geecko>
IT FUCKING WORKS
<geecko>
and there's still these glitches, ha
<Espenfjo>
Probably some EGL mismatch in mali, or some new format somewhere

hi there, does somebody made work on MHL on exynos 4 ?
<Epsylon3>
(on non stock rom)
<Espenfjo>
I would say probably not
<Epsylon3>
its made in some samsung libs ?
<Epsylon3>
im not familiar with that, except on tegra2
<Epsylon3>
and it was a real hdmi output
<Espenfjo>
MHL/TVout has never really worked on the exynos4 devices. There has been very little effort on it since gb/ics, but it might be possible now with newer revisions of insignal sources
<Epsylon3>
do you know the chip reference in S3 / Note 2 ?
<Epsylon3>
my previous device was a galaxy r, and even on stock rom it was never implemented
