<geecko> holy SHIT
<geecko> Entropy512, it's 3.0 with proper s3c-fb driver and most likely updated ion
<slick_rick> sounds interesting
<Entropy512> geecko: I assume that's probably for manta or maybe crespo
<geecko> Entropy512, i know, but it's not really a problem
<Entropy512> rhcp: arcee is never here
<rhcp> heh
<Entropy512> he hates people
<geecko> Entropy512, doing the diff will surely help
<Entropy512> people in general
<rhcp> trying to find a hidden repo
<Entropy512> good luck with that
<rhcp> Yea
<Entropy512> if arcee is involved
<rhcp> i dono tbh
<rhcp> mine is locked too
<rhcp> :P
<rhcp> its for the LG g2
<Entropy512> ah
<rhcp> I have mine done (CM11) port
<geecko> wait what
<Entropy512> whoa
<Entropy512> might be some of the exynos4 shit that's in mainline
<Entropy512> which isn't particularly useful on any android device
<Entropy512> the stuff in mainline is *ancient*
<geecko> Entropy512, oh nvm, it's mainline, yep
<Entropy512> mainline was at least 2 years behind touchwizz kernels last time I looked
<rhcp> fuck mainline :P
<rhcp> thats how i made G2 work
<rhcp> had to revert a bunch of shit
<Entropy512> e.g. you didn't see anything beyond WFI as far as cpuidle support until almost 2 years after the galaxys2 was released
<rhcp> invisilk or w/e hs nick is
<rhcp> hates me for that
<rhcp> lolz
<Entropy512> invisiblek or intervigil?
<rhcp> invisiblek
<rhcp> he doesnt think reverting things == fix
<rhcp> yet my users are sitting on cm11 for the G2 with * working
<rhcp> lolz
<Entropy512> reverting oem shit is often a fix
<Entropy512> maxwen did an awesome job of figuring out which oppo changes were needed and which weren't
<Entropy512> and only applying those to CAF
<geecko> Entropy512, looks like i was too optimistic, ion driver doesn't support exynos and s3c-fb is outdated :/
<Entropy512> d'oh
<Entropy512> not surprised
<geecko> ._.
<Entropy512> i'm guessing that's a crespo kernel
<rhcp> I have a friend who maintains for PA
<rhcp> who reverted a bunch of google stuff
<rhcp> and hes using all google repos for G2
<rhcp> so its pretty much a nexus5
<rhcp> code wise
McNetic has quit [Ping timeout: 272 seconds]
<geecko> duh :(
<geecko> i feel demotivated
<geecko> there's just too much things that derp when i try to update parts of the kernel
<geecko> it spreads you know?
<geecko> Entropy512, what about a linux 3.4 kernel for exynos?
<geecko> exynos4
<geecko> the One
<geecko> x)

<Entropy512> geecko: heheh... I personally don't have the motivation for it
<geecko> Entropy512, how to start? clone this shit https://android.googlesource.com/kernel/common/+/android-3.4 and merge drivers?
<Entropy512> that would be my guess, although the question is
<Entropy512> is exynos5 s3cfb similar to exynos4?
<Entropy512> manta might be a closer starting point
<Entropy512> not sure
<geecko> Entropy512, i want to merge s3c-fb driver from Insignal 3.4 (exynos 4412)
<geecko> btw this kernel would be a start, too
<Entropy512> if you're trying to go TO 3.4 and use the insignal stuff
<geecko> Entropy512, hwc is 99% similar, mostly renaming like exynos5 -> exynos4
<Entropy512> I'd try to merge drivers into the insignal tree
<Entropy512> unfortunately since there's no good baseline to compare against, it's hard to see what changes actually need merging in
<geecko> you mean, merge drivers from sammy kernal to the insignal one?
<Entropy512> yeah
<geecko> that's how i was seeing it
<geecko> but, i'm not really sure all this is needed
<geecko> i would really need help on what i'm doing right now
<geecko> merging insignal's s3c-fb driver
<geecko> to our kernal
<geecko> there's surely a way to not update all the base drivers
<geecko> but rather modify ion and s3c-fb itself to use the old apis
<geecko> otherwise it's just not doable
<geecko> ... that's what i tried for the past few days, but it's not possible to fix all the errors, because fixing means another errors
<geecko> Entropy512, anyway, it's late right now, i'll go to bed disappointed :P
<geecko> see you guys!

<Wilsonn> Hi, I was wondering whether it would be safe to try fstrim on a Samsung Galaxy S2 on official 4.1.2 with the stock kernel but with root. I am aware that performing it on ICS would result in a brick but I'm not sure whether the JB fix for the brick bug would possibly stop fstrim from working (the official fix, not the MMC_CAP_ERASE disable).
